A few words about......
Kuchipudi Dr. Ramakrishna a 'Kuchipudi dance exponent' hails from India. He is one of the best known & admired
figures in the present generation of South Indian Classical dance form, especially in “Kuchipudi Dance”.
He is a freelance Kuchipudi performer, teacher and
choreographer with 20 years of great experience in the field of dance. He made his virgin
debut at a tender age in Kuchipudi Dance.
Dr. Ramakrishna began to perform as a solo
Artist at the age of 9 and since then, continued to perform at various stages
at State, National and International venues in India. Dance had become an
integral part of his life. His command over the technique and Abhinaya is much
adorable and applaudable. Dedication and sincerity became the quaint essence of
his successful life. This had made him an outstanding personality in displaying
the facial expressions, body movements and foot work.
His
desire towards Kuchipudi made him complete his certificate & Diploma course
from PSTU and came out with
Distinction. He simultaneously completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (B.
Com) from Kakataiya University. After his
bachelor’s degree he had done MPA-Dance (Masters of Performing Arts) Kuchipudi
from Hyderabad Central University and passed it with Distinction and came out
with the First rank and was awarded the prestigious gold medal ‘Nataraja Rama Krishna Sharada Devi Medal’.
His
quest for knowledge and passion for Kuchipudi art made him more and more
curious to explore and learn other classical art forms of India. Being
versatile genius, he explored and is still exploring not only Kuchipudi but
also Perini dance.
He
took admission into PhD and been awarded the doctoral degree “Doctor of
Philosophy” on the topic of Perini
Dance and the Title was
“Origin and Evolution of Perini Dance Form” under the guidance of Prof. M. S.
Siva Raju, Department of Dance S. N. School of Arts and Communications,
University of Hyderabad in the year 2018.
Since 2000 he had
been exclusively performing in prestigious dance
festivals throughout India like; Music and dance festivals, Bhuvaneshwar,
Cuttak, Kurukshetra University Haryana, Vishveshwarayya Institute of Technology
Bangalore, Osmaniya University Hyderabad, University of Hyderabad, Kakatiya
University Warangal, etc., Siddhartha College Vijayawada, Common Wealth Games 2010
opening ceremony, Delhi, Tripura, Agarthala, Sri Siddhendra yogi Kuchipudi,
Vijayawada, Vizag, Amaravathi, Guntur, and many more dance festivals conducted
by the South zone cultural center, department of culture, and the temple
rituals of Tirupathi, Kaanipakam, Purijagannath, Srishailam, Chitambaram,
Brihadeshwara Temple, Tanjavur, Melattur Bhagatamela, Yadadri, and many more.
He rendered performances at Telangana formation day celebrations, at Warangal,
Hyderabad, and at many other places of importance all over Telangana.
Being
a highly talented, ignited, gifted and highly applaudable and blissful
professional, he won many accolades, laurels, Gold medals and innumerable
prizes which are like feathers in his cap in countless classical dance
competitions. Upholding the traditional values of Kuchipudi and
with the blessings of his gurus, he portrayed the major roles in Kuchipudi
Yakshaganas. He has several Solo Dance performances to his credit. Apart from
the Solo performances with his own troupe, he also performs classical shows
with leading Dancers.
He enacted all major
male roles in dance ballets such as Vishnu,
Krishna, Siva, Daksha, Indra, Janaka, Karna, Boddist Monk, Haalahala etc, under
the eminent gurus like late Padmavibhushan Dr. Vempati China Satyam Master
garu, Sri Vempati Ravi Shankar garu, Padmavibhushan Dr. Radha Raja Reddy garu,
Sri. Vedantam Master garu, Pasumarthi Ramalinga Sastry garu, Prof. Jonnalagadda
Anuradha garu, Smt. Manjubhargavi garu, etc., and other exponent Masters in the
same field. His devoted practice and comprehension of the essence of Kuchipudi
had made him an exceptional dancer, teacher and an outstanding choreographer.
He continues to display his dedication towards the Art form, participating in
the choreographies, performances and teaching in Kuchipudi classical art to the
present and the future generations.
He established his dance school, Rama Krishna Dance Academy Society, ‘School of Kuchipudi Art’, registered under Society registration to keep the Indian culture alive
through this dance form. He uses dance as a medium of expression to raise
cultural awareness in the community. He has the unique talent to bring out the
best in all his students.
He
has choreographed several solo and Group songs from the spiritual to
the secular like Maharaja Sri
Swathitirunal’s compositions, Tyagaraja keerthanas, Tarangams, Padams,
Thillanas, etc.,
to Vande mataram, etc., which are the dance pieces of his fabulous choreographies till
date. And ballets like “Mahishaasura
mardhani” (Spiritual) and Gurajaada’s epic – “Putthadi Bomma Poornamma”
(Social), etc., are the popular ballets.
Currently Dr. Ramakrishna is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Performing Arts/Kuchipudi Dance, RGUKT AP.
Dr.
Ramakrishna conducts Kuchipudi Dance classes and workshops every year. For more
