Soumyasree has been training students and choreographing for
the last eighteen years and has traveled widely and worked in many
schools/institutions and promoted the culture of dance i.e., participation,
performance, perfection, preservation and progress. Having numerous performances in India at various
festivals to her credit, she has also performed and conducted workshops
abroad. She has successfully conducted
many workshops and lecture-demonstrations and taught students of diverse
countries in Mumbai, Rishikesh, Missouri, Kanpur, Hyderabad and presently in
Aurangabad.
Soumyasree has choreographed many ballets and dance dramas
not only in different classical styles but also in folk dances and creative and
contemporary dance forms. She is known for her unique choreographic ability and
also written many articles for prestigious journals and dance online
magazines. She was instrumental in
spreading and introducing the classical dance forms of south India to the state
of Uttaranchal, she has also taught many folk dances of Maharashtra and Andhra
Pradesh to the locals and school students in Mussoorie. She has worked with
students of varied international cultures in some of the prestigious schools in
India and choreographed many dance dramas in Hindi, Telugu, English and
Sanskrit. She taught and interacted with
spastic children and differently able children through dance movement therapy and
also worked with rural women making them aware of the physical health through
dance movements and yogic exercises and incorporating themes like importance of
organic farming, stopping of female foeticide in their dance theatre
presentations. She is trying and working to evolve a language for dance in the
form of notation and create awareness of dance as therapy.
She has been imparting training to many students
(prestigious schools and institutes) from 1990 to the present day in Mumbai,
Hyderabad, Kanpur, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Dehradun and now in Aurangabad. From
the year 2007 till present, she is Adjunct Lecturer at Dept. of Dance &
Drama Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathawada University, Aurangabad. Also she is the
artistic director of devmudraa– a
movement school, which she has started in the year 2007 in Aurangabad to impart
training in indian classical and fok dances and make dance reach all.
She also gave Kuchipudi dance recital in the festival ” 4th
International Kala PoshakamUtsav ” where she performed Ganesha Kautvam,
Muddugare Yashoda Kirtanam by Saint Annamacharya, RamayanShabdam, which was
well appreciated by the Chennai Rasikas.
