Biography

A very young sitarist from "Banaras Gharana" Mishra is born in a very famous musical family of the very renowned area of Banarasnamed Kabeer Choura. His father Dr. Birendra Nath Mishra ( Ex - Deptt., Faculty of Arts, Banaras Hindu University) & grandfather Pt. Surendra Mohan Mishra (Ex Professor , GorakhpurUniversity ) are renowned sitarists of Banaras . There is a great history of his family , many of the renowned artists "Gharana" belongs to his family, such Mishra , Pt. Vikramaditya Mishra ( Bikku Maharaj ji) , Pt. Ramayan Mishra , Pt. Shrichandra Mishra, Pt. Rangnath Mishra and many more whose names can be never forgotten from the history of Indian Classical Music .

At an age of only six years , Ankur started learning vocal from Pt. Jalapa Prasad Mishra . After continuing training for four years , he started playing sitar in the guidance of his grandfather Pt. Surendra Mohan Mishra & Dr. Birendra Nath Mishra which is still progressing successfully .

In the last ten years , Ankur has shown his talent & performed in many of the big country, such as Varanasi, Delhi, NOIDA , Sonebhadra etc. He has also performed in All India Radio & Doordarshan.

At present Ankur is doing Masters in Music from Faculty of Performing Arts, BHU. He is also working hard for eastablishing himself as a successful artist in future .

Has won Bronze medal at the National Youth Festival 2010, Bhubaneshwar , Orissa .
Recently Ankur has Won Gold Medal at the Zonal Youth Festival held at Tezpur University, Assam.
