Biography

A talented Pune based semi-classical vocalist specialising in the thumri and dadra genre', Avantika Sinha is gifted with a rich and mesmerizing voice that captures the imagination of her audience.

Her performance strongly evokes the ethos of the Benares tradition, and her soulful and expressive rendition of thumris and dadras in the "Purab-ang" tradition are her forte'.

A talented artist with great potential, she received her initial training in Hindustani Classical vocal music in the Patiala gharana in Kolkata under the expert guidance of the late Smt. Aarti Bagchi, and completed her Sangeet Kriya Visharad .

Due to her passion for semi-classical music, she has thereafter evolved primarily into a thumri and dadra performer under the tutelage of the eminent Dr. Sanjeev Shende, who is a leading exponent of thumri-dadra rendition. She is also guided by well-known and highly accomplished classical vocalist Dr. Madhuri Joshi.

She has performed before select audiences in several cities including Kolkata, Pune, New Delhi, Mumbai, Patna among others, where her impressive stage presence, and expressive rendition of thumris, dadras, kajris, chaitis, horis of the Benares gharana have been greatly appreciated.

Avantika is now based in Pune, and continues to pursue her music under the guidance of her gurus while performing on available platforms before a discerning audience.
