Born in a very closely
bonded and social family, Gayatri had a zeal for music right from her childhood.
She started showing
Musical sparks at the age of 3 and gave her first performance as a child artist
at a kinder age of 4, on National Radio.
It was a blissful
moment at her age of 8, when, the world known veteran singer Smt. Kishoritai
Amonkar, heard her voice and immediately advised her decipal and Aunt of
Gayatri, Smt. Meera Panshikar, to take serious lesions under her able guidance.
Gayatri then started
learning JAIPUR ATROLI Gharana from the well known Meeratai for a decade. She
also learnt at the same time from Pandit Mahadev Gandhe.
During her school and
college time, Gayatri did many performances of Classical and Light music and
also represented her college for the known events like Firodia, Purushottam
etc. The same time, she was performing on All India Radio and TV shows. She represented
her collage as a cultural secretary as well.
Gayatri completed her
studies and became POST GRADUATE in Commerce and Finance.
Was in Dubai And New
Zealand for ten years.
It was a sudden
change of platform for Gayatri and the situations at New Zealand were not at
all positive for her Musical passion as there were almost negligible Indian
musical activities happening.
There is a saying,
when the world - one wants - does not exist; one has to create his own. This is
what Gayatri preferred to create!
With a very able and
passionate support from her husband Swanand, Gayatri started making efforts to
gather Indians for Musical activities at New Zealand and their efforts finally
gave fruits by forming a group called SWARANJALI, where the other Indians
artists, cultivating Indian Music, came together!!
This group did many
cultural events and concerts at Aukcland and they really made a historical
change and cultivated the listening taste of the Indians staying at New Zealand.
Gayatri has also
performed numerous times on the local radio as well as TV at New Zealand.
While doing such
historical efforts for her musical passion, Gayatri did not leave her
educational achievements and was working at Aukland, in a well know firm as a
legal accounts consultant.
At the same time, Gayatri was teaching Indian
Classical Music at Aukland and had many students taking her able and
intelligent guidance.
Finally, in 2008, her
lust for Music could no more hold back and the family decided to migrate back
to India.
Returning to India,
Gayatri did not get demoralized by the changed situations at India, and the
audio-visual phrases getting added to Musical talents. Though she realized that
her same timers already had a musical profile set and performances done in major
concerts at India she started working afresh.
She started learning
her further musical lessons of MEVATI GHARANA form Smt Shobha Abhyankar –
Mother of well known Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar.
She has started
taking further guidance from Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar.
She did numerous
musical performances in India so far and also teaching many students via internet
at New Zealand, Australia and Netherlands. Also she is giving one on one
lessons to many Indian Students in Pune India.
Gayatri in 2011,
during her musical learning and performances, got attracted to a very niche
form of Music – i.e. GAZALS and started learning this form , the Urdu language
and the poetry from Dr. Shashikala Shirgopikar.
It was again her
social urge that she tried to gather likeminded artists together to form again
a musical group – SAAZ. This group has started performing GAZAL concerts and
also Indian Classical and Light performances.
