Sundar te dhyaan
Manasi Limaye
Bhava is the essential ingredient in any dance form.
It is something which conveys the meaning intended, through words, physical gestures and facial expressions. It indicates the emotional condition displayed by a character in its existing stage.
Abhang is a form of devotional poetry sung in praise of the God Vitthala, also known as Vithoba. The word "abhang" comes from a for "non-" and bhang for "ending" or "interrupting", in other words, a flawless, continuous process, in this case referring to a poem. Abhangs are sung by the devotees during pilgrimage to the temples of Pandharpur.
To demonstrate the bhava aspect of Kathak, Guru Manasi Limaye Tembe will present an abhang "Sundar Te Dhyaan" , a beautiful "Abhang" by Saint Tukaram. Abhinaya begins with the story of bhakt Pundalik who takes care of his parents diligently and on whose request Vittala resides at Pandharpur .
