Smt. Anita Goswami was initiated into singing by Smt.Renuka Sen of Yogoda Ashram, Ranchi at her tender age. She undertook rigorous and systematic training in Hindustani Classical vocal for 15 years. Subsequently she learnt from Amiyo Ghosh a disciple of Ustad Chand Khan of Delhi Gharana.Then Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, grandson and disciple of Ustad Chand Khan spotted her talent and took her under his tutelage for Khayal and Thumri.
Anita acquired her ‘Sangeet Prabhakar’ from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad then ‘Sangeet Bhaskar’ [M.Mus] from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.Anita is an ‘A’ grade artist in Hindi Bhajan and ‘B high” grade artist of Thumri in All India Radio and Doordarshan.She performed at A.I.R. concert in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Mumbai. She is a graduate from Ranchi University, Jharkhand. At present she is learning Khayal and Thumri from Padma Bhushan Pt.Chhannulalji Mishra of Varanasi who is an exponent of Khayal and Thumri, reckoned among all time great vocalists hailing from Varanasi.
