Mr. Suresh Gujar is a Violinist from Pune (Maharashtra, India), who is known for the gayaki (cantabile) style of violin playing and for his unique talent of wielding thousands of songs of popular Indian film music on violin, without any notation, complete with their interleaved music arrangements.
Learning the violin since the age of 13, he has been playing professionally for over 25 years. He has had several outstanding gurus – Late Mr.Mohan Saraf, Late Mr.A.Barneto, Mr.Shankarrao Biniwale and Ustad Faiyyaz Hussain Khan well known in the Indian music circuit.
He integrates the two rich Indian schools of music – Hindustani and Carnatic and has done recording sessions for Marathi films and background scores of Hindi films to playing meditational and devotional music for esteemed organizations such as Art of Living Foundation in India, ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), etc. He has authored 38 musical notation books and also released 3 instrumental CDs.
His performances have been graced with the appreciation of greats such as Lata Mangeshkar, Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Jagjit Singh, Laxmikant (of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo), Shantanu Moitra, etc. Moreover, he has been a part of the recordings of Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Ram Kadam and Ram Phatak, while having played with Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood, Anup Jalota and Sudha Malhotra in their live shows.
