Sh. Samaru Meher (Sameer), the founder and director of Nrityanjali, is one of the foremost exponent of Odissi dance today. He is a dancer, performer, choreographer and an excellent pedagogue of Odissi and Sambalpuri folk dance. He was trained under eminent Gurus Padmabibhusan Guru Late Kelu Charan Mohapatra, Padmashri guru Kumkum Mohanty, Khanduri Charan Behera and Kasturi Pattnaik from Padmabibhusan Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre. He followed the Style/Gharana of Padmabibhusan Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra. He has completed Nritya Visharad in Odissi dance from Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. He is also a trained Indian folk dancer and western dancer.
Sh. Samaru Meher has been performed in different parts India and widely appreciated for his solo dance. He has choreographed several dance production of his own. He has worked as choreograph in Sarala Film Institute and also worked as casual artist in song and drama division at Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. Then he was appointed as senior dance director in Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy of Administration, Mussoorie from 2005 to 2010. He worked in SVP National Police Academy at Hyderabad as choreographer
