Biography

Shinjini Kulkarni and her team members present their versatility through rhythm based band Laya-curry.

The band includes the upcoming generation of artists such as Anubrata Chatterjee-Tabla/ Dholak, S.Swaminathan-Khanjira/Ghatam, Shikhar Naad Qureshi-Djembe/Cajun, Esani Day -Guitar, I.D Rao-Saxophone/Suprano. Shinjini is one of the members. She is one of the words best dancers in the country. Her dance is a perfect example of tradition with modernity.

Kathak dancer Shinjini Kulkarni is the granddaughter of Kathak Maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj ji. She is the ninth generation from Kalka Bindadin lineage. She began her training in Kathak dance at the age of five under the tutelage of her grandfather. She began performing at the age of eight, and has ever since been exploring her passion for dance. While excelling in her studies, she has also continued her training with utmost dedication and sincerity.
