Music is in Manjushree Soman's family. Her grandfather, late Shri Babarao Kaslikar was the famous singer of Khan Saheb Moulabaksh tradition. Her father, late Pandit Manohar Kaslikar, a renowned singer, was a disciple of Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan. He also studied the style of great masteroes like Khan Saheb Nissar Hussain, Pt. Nivruttibuwa Sarnaik, Pt. Ramkrishnabuwa Vaze etc very sincerely and minutely. He blended their singing style with his own; however his was a natural and distinctive style.
Manjushree Soman has been trained under the able guidance of her eminent father since childhood. She is gifted with a melodious voice and has a repertoire of compact and beautifully structured bandishees. A clean racy taan, attractive boltaan and laykari are her specialty. Her performance is a lesson in compactness raised to superb artistic heights.
Manjushree is a B+ grade vicalist of AIR and Doordarshan Nagpur. She is a gold medalist at BA level, stood third in MA music and is also MA in English literature. She has a treasure of Khandani bandishees inherited from her father.
Manjushree is a professional artist and has given performances in many cities in India. She lives in Nagpur, MH and presently giving lessons to many students.
Manjushree Soman holds a three day music fest in November every year in the memory of her father Pt. Manohar Kaslikar along with 'Saptak', an organization devoted for promotion of Indian music.
