Paulami
is a young & talented classical singer. Born in a culturally rich Marathi family. Her father Mr. Prakash Pethe
is an Art Director and the Principal of an art school in Mumbai. Paulami benefited from this legacy….very much…though she chose to draw the lines from musical notes.
Up &
coming vocalist Paulami learnt music initially from Mrs. Sunetra Pandit and Pt.
Chandrakant Parkar. Later she completed her B.A. in Sanskrit and holds Visharad
in Hindustani Classical Vocal. She has completed Masters in Music of Mumbai
University.
She
has been blessed to be a disciple of Padmabhushan Dr. Prabha Atre (Kirana
Gharana). Paulami is fortunate enough to learn the intricacies of Gwalior style from Lt.
Pt. Dr. Chandrashekhar Rele (Disciple of Pro. B. R. Deodhar and gurubandhu of
Pt. Kumar Gandharva) and also from Pt. Dinkar Panshikar of Jaipur Gharana (Disciple of Pt. Nivruttibua Sarnaik).
Currently,
she is under the tutelage of Smt. Shalmali Joshi. (Disciple of Pt. Ratnakar Pai
of Jaipur Gharana). Thus her music
represents an interesting blend of three major styles of Hindustani Vocal
tradition viz. Kirana, Jaipur and Gwalior..

Interestingly
she has a very keen sense of semi classical and light music too… For that, she
underwent for some lessons of light music from ghazal singer Jasvinder Singh
and Shri. Suhas Bawadekar [Disciple of Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki].
She has
many prizes and awards in inter-school, inter-college and state-level competitions to her credit. Paulami
has given many classical solo performances at various places in India and abroad. She has also lent her voice to many Marathi films and jingles too.
