The name Dr. Rajeeb Chakraborty breathes an astounding versatility of self-expression as a musician, an educationist and a music composer and conductor. Rajeeb started at the tender age of six attuning his mind and fingers to the strains of his father's sarod. Pandit Rabi Chakraborty, himself one of the most distinguished and senior most sarodist of the Maihar Gharana and ever since Rajeeb evolved as one of India's finest sarod players under his guidance and training.
Dr. Chakraborty's quest for knowledge and desire to become a complete musician brought him close to many versatile and learned minds. His interest in different spheres in music helped him to acquire knowledge at length. Rajeeb's achievements may be credited to Padmabhusan Pandit Jyan Prakash Ghosh under whom he received training in vocal music. Taal and Laya the most indispensable aspect of music created new dimensions under the tutelage of Pandit Anil Palit. He is also blessed with the guidance of Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, Prof. Ajoy Sinha Roy and Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty.
Apart from being a scholar in Indian classical music Dr. Chakraborty earned his degrees in Western classical music from Royal College of Music (London) with distinction.
Dr. Rajeeb Chakraborty's subject for his doctoral degree which reads the 'Role of computer in learning and teaching North Indian Classical Music' itself reveals his zeal to propagate this art form in its most modern format for explaining and making logical derivations for students and music lovers.
Along with being a highly acclaimed musician Dr. Chakraborty has built himself a separate identity as a regular academic instructor in premier universities not only in India but also abroad. He has the distinction of using the latest available technology, namely, computers to teach and spread the message of music across the globe. His thesis subject that reads 'The Role of computer in learning and teaching North Indian classical music' in itself reveals his enthusiasm to make Indian classical music more approachable for students, whereby making learning of it more logical and make this form of art globally acceptable not only in its form of beauty, but also art, in its form of theory.

Apart from being very closely associated with major universities abroad Rajeeb has also been working hand in hand with SPICMACAY the organization that believes in the propagation of Indian Classical Music and Art among the youth globally. He was selected as the mainframe artiste of the session 2000/2001 and delivered lecture demonstration programmes at both university and school levels in India.

Apart from being a regular performing artiste and holding lecture demonstration programs abroad to his credit we can also include the fact that Dr. Chakraborty has chartered out an impressive career as a composer and a conductor of music and has lent his creativity to a host of films, documentaries, serials, stage plays, music albums, music videos, fusion bands and dance dramas. His association with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and his involvement as a guest composer / conductor for The Leeds Summer
Festival 1999 talks about his acceptance globally. His 'Khudito Pashan' based on Tagore's story was premiered in the US in 1994 and won the first prize at a national convention.
