Pt. Kaivalyakumar is a leading exponent of Kirana Gharana with a rich multigenerational lineage. His grandfather Pt. Ganapatrao Gurav was a first batch disciple of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan, founder of Kirana Gharana. He was trained by his father Pt. Sangmeshwar Gurav. Owing to his strong roots, Pt. Kaivalyakumar is a treasure house of extraordinary compositions (bandish). Born on 22nd October, Pt. Kaivayakumar hails from Dharwad, Karnataka and has received various recognitions like ‘Raza foundation award’, ‘Surmani’ and ‘Pandit Jasraj Gaurav Puraskar’. He has several albums to his credit. Pt. Kaivalyakumar is a Gold Medallist of M.A. Music from Karnataka University. He took to music quite early, which was pretty natural considering his rich musical heritage. Endowed with a melodious, fluid and high pitched voice, Pt. Kaivalyakumar has enthralled the audiences in his various stage performances in India and abroad. His rendition of Raagas is marked by natural phirat, murki, rigorous tans, infallible rhythm, imaginative content and aesthetic approach to raagas. He is the youngest Hindustani Classical vocalist to get a top grade by 'All India Radio' (India’s national radio channel) and 'Doordarshan' (India’s national television channel).
