Dance was always a passion from childhood for Priya Manoj a Malappuram swadeshi who has been in Abu Dhabi for the past fifteen years. The passion was transformed into a profession and she started her own dance academy in Abu Dhabi called ‘Bharathanjali’ which has been successfully going on for the more than ten years.
She is a Mohiniyattam Performer, Bharatanatyam dancer and a Kuchipudi dancer.
She learned Mohiniyattom in the Kalamandalam style and Bharatanatyam the Kalakshetra style. She performed classical dances professionally in different venues at Kerala & abroad. She has Masters in Literature and even got a B.Ed. Degree and had worked as a Teacher in a School at Abu dhabi. She took an MFA degree in Bharatanatyam, and still continues research Pursuing along with her performances and teaching responsibilities.
PriyaManoj has a solid background in Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi, and excellent grip on Mohiniyattam. Personally her favorite is Mohiniyattam. Her Mohinyattam is marked by extreme grace and fluidity of movements, transmitting radiance through expressions that at times sigh with nostalgia, purity and sanctity. It is her ability to infuse beauty in whatever she creates and gives joyousness to her movements and expressions that set her apart from other practitioners.
For her performances, she loves to choose mythological stories related to Lord Krishna which in turn resulted in her latest beautiful Produduction Navarasamayan, A journey through the Navarasas of Lord Krishna.
