Veethika Tikoo

Born in the family of musicians, Veethika Tikoo is an upcoming Santoor Vaadika from Jammu & Kashmir State. Veethika Tikoo has received her initial training and encouragement from her mother, a renowned sitar maestro Prof. (Dr.) Padmini Tikoo. After her initial training Veethika Tikoo came under the tutelage of the Santoor Legend and Music Composer Pt. Bhajan Sopor. Veethika Tikoo is receiving her training in Sufiana Gharana and Sopori Baaj. Along with her rigorous training in Santoor Veethika Tikoo is also receiving taleem as Vocalist and Composer. Related to her taleem Veethika Tikoo has been assisting her guru in various musical productions as assistant and also collecting the data for the various styles of various genres of music; Veethika Tikoo has also performed live for Sindhi music festival as a part of Sindhi music album performance with legends like Shanti Hiranand Ji. Veethika Tikoo has also presented the papers on the use of technological aids in teaching learning process of performing arts at sopva, (Indira Gandhi National open University, her articles both in Hindi and English have been published including ‘Music Therapy’ gaining wide appreciation. Already sang in albums and participated in various choirs of Sopori academy of Music and Performing Arts, including various private albums and archival records of IGNICA.

Veethika Tikoo participated in concerts at International Yoga Conference, University of Jammu (2003), Spicmacay; Lucknow (2007), Delhi (2007), & Gwalior (2011), Inaugural ceremony of Pranayam Dayan Shiver (Sitar) Art of Living, New Delhi (2008 ), Inter University Youth Festival at Banaras Hindu University (2012 ) Prasar Bharti Broadcasting Corporation of India, New Delhi (Feb 2012), Lok Sabha Television (Jan 2012), U.G.C.sponsored  Seminar on Music, Delhi University (2012) besides outside countries like Kathmandu & France.

Being the university rank holder throughout her graduation and post graduation from Daulat Ram And Miranda House College, Delhi University, Veethika Tikoo  has been awarded various scholarships, fellowships and national repute awards as mentioned above.

*   National seminar organized at IGNOU, Delhi. Harballabh Sangeet Pratiyogita, Jhallandhar. 

*  Sangeet Natak Academi Competition, Lucknow. Indira Gandhi Manav Sangralaya(MOC) Bhopal. 

*  Given Presentation at Seminar School of Performing and Visual Arts, Ignou.

*  Attended Several Seminars & Conferences at Faculty of Music and fine arts( Delhi University). 

*  Accompanied at Santoor In an Album by Sushma Kalla.

*  Played for conference of vakh at Ignca, New Delhi performed as a Choir Instrumentalist twice in art of living sitar ensemble marked at guinees book of records. 

*  layed Santoor at Kashmiri music ensemble conducted by Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Delhi. recorded album named “Shradha posh” with Pt. Bhajan Sopori. Sang in choirs of Sa Ma Pa among others. 

*  Conducted music ensemble at Kamani Auditorium, N.D.

*  Participated as accompanying artist on Santoor in various concerts all over India by Spic Macay. Accompanied my Guru in concerts Kathmandu And Pari organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

*  Accompanied Guru for various live and recorded programmes of Air and Doorshan Plus their archives. Performed at various conferences organised by private local bodies And NGO’S of the country. 

Assisted my Guru Pandit Sopori for various music albums and live productions. 

Veethika Tikoo has been conferred with many awards & fellowship some of there are

*  Fellowhip from Research Unit, IGNOU 2011.

 *  Young Artist Scholarship from Ministry of Culture 2014.
