Biography

Simrat is a Professional Singer trained in Hindustani Classical Music. Born in Punjab and brought up in Delhi, Simrat started learning music at a very young age from Smt Kunda Panse and started performing on stage and for All India Radio Delhi. After graduating as a topper from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, Delhi University, she joined Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, New Delhi for Sangeet Visharad in Hindustani Classical Music. She topped the university and also did extensive music trainings under various Gurus in the tradition of Guru-Shishya parampara. Simrat has been bestowed ‘SAKHA AWARD 2013’ by Padamshree Smt. Shanti Hiranand ji, renowned disciple of Begum Akhtar & Amarjeet Singh Kohli ji for outstanding singing performance during Homage to Shamshad begum by SAKHA & PECOBA. In an era where fusion and new age music dominate the current Indian music scenario, Simrat Chhabra, an extremely talented and a versatile artiste, predominantly features as a rare performer who continues to excel and please the connoisseur with her traditional raga based gayaki in the form of Vintage Geets & Ghazals. Simrat Chhabra, is a much sought after singer not only across India, but as far as away the United States of America, Dubai where loyal audiences have been charmed and enthralled by her melodious & soul stirring renditions, and fabulous personality. Blessed with the divine gift of music, and years of relentless effort to achieve perfection, Ms Chhabra’s excellence & finesse, her crisp and clear voice coupled with her impeccable diction of both the Hindi and Urdu languages have won her accolades of the discerning listener right across the globe. Simrat’s accomplishments have been recognized by great veterans in the field of Indian music, to commemorate legendary figures such as Shamshad Begum, Reshma, Khursheed, Rajkumari, Geeta Dutt & OP Nayyar. Simrat has also lent her melodious voice to many Telefilms, background scores, and more than two hundred NCERT CIET programs at Chacha Nehru Bhawan for kids and title songs of serials using her devotion and love for playback singing.

Career

Simrat is a "Professional Singer" trained in Hindustani Classical Music. She has been performing for stage shows and recordings for the last 5 years in all spheres of singing. Her singing has been inspired by legends such as Kishori Amonkar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. She has performed at prestigious venues both in India and abroad and her vast repertoire caters to various genres of music and has sung in different languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi and English. Her rendering of Hindi and Marathi film and folk songs has won her wide acclaim. Simrat is a Graded artist from All India Radio.

Simran has lent her melodious voice to many Telefilms, Jingles, Spots and Title Songs of Serials using her devotion and love for music. Simrat is presently working on various singing assignments.
