Biography
Keerti Kumar Badseshi is a Hindustani Classical vocalist from the Kirana and the Gwalior gharanas. He is known for his magical rendition of the khayal gayaki and devotional music (bhajans).
He was blessed with extreme musical potential which was further given shape by his Gurus and his unflinching practice and unwavering commitment throughout the years.
Born in Gulbarga in a music patronising family, an Electronics graduate, found his true calling in music at a very tender age and has not looked back since. A child prodigy, Keerti started performing at the age of 5. He was trained by Sri Ramachari Jalihal and Smt. Geeta Gayatri Chakravarthy in the initial stages. The task of further enhancement of his musical understanding and knowledge was taken over by Pandit Vinayak Torvi, who was himself trained by none other than Gayanacharya Gururao Deshpande and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, when during his concert tour to Gulbarga, he heard Keerti’s audio recordings and expressed his wish to accept him as his disciple. Keerti’s exceptional talent was ably groomed under the magical tutelage of Pandit Vinayak Torvi. With the blessings and able guidance of his Guru Torvi ji, Keerti today, is imbibing the Kirana and the Gwalior styles of singing and has already won accolades and earned rave reviews from fans as well as critics.
Pandit Vinayak Torvi, a performer par excellence, guided him to several platforms all over India and abroad. He groomed Keerti into a complete performer by imparting the invaluable musical knowledge along with art of performance and different aspects of musicianship.
Keerti was awarded scholarship by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi and Karnataka Sangeet Nritya Academy, Bangalore, in recognition of his proficiency and to encourage his talent.
Many prestigious music festivals and cultural events like Bhu Gandharva Sangeet Sammellan, Allah Dia Khan Sangeet Samaroh, Mysore Palace Dusshera Utsav and many more have seen Keerti’s mettle as a performer. His performances have not been limited to the boundaries of India but to the global audience as well. Music lovers from countries like the USA, Gulf have been enthralled by his artistry.
Keerti was awarded the title of ‘Sangeet Ratna’, by Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, affiliated to Shanti Niketan, Kolkatta. He is also a ’B-High’ graded artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan and performs often for various radio and television programmes. Keerti’s excellent renditions in his classical and devotional albums have won the hearts of many listeners. He has given playback for a Hindi documentary serial “Kotta”, produced by Sri B.V. Karanth and “Vachana Vaibhava” a Kannada TV serial. He has rendered his mellifluent voice for many other television serials and documentaries. Besides being a vocalist, Keerti also composes bandishes and taranas too. He has judged a Music Reality Show, 'YEDE TUMBI HADUVENU' with S P Balasubramaniam.
Keerti is a Founder Member of ‘Sur Naman’, an organization to promote Music and Performing Arts.
