Debanjan Bhattacharjee

Debanjan is a recipient of the President's Gold Medal Award in 2008. He is also a nominated artiste for the most coveted Global Indian Music Academy Awards- GIMA 2012 for Best Classical Album alongside great legends of Indian Classical Music. He is also an empanelled artiste with ICCR, Govt. of India.

Abroad Visit

GERMANY:  Performed at prestigious organizations at Munich, Hamburg, Leubeck, Karlsruhe,Euberlingen, Bielefeld, Haslach & Fischerbach (Black Forest) in ’13 and ‘14.

BAHRAIN:  Invited by the Govt. Of Bahrain to perform in the UNITED NATIONS Congress 2013 at Manama City, graced by UN Secy General & the King of Bahrain.

SWEDEN:  Invited by Riksconserter, Govt. of Sweden in 2010 to participate in renowned international festivals of Musik vid Siljan, Bingsjöstämman, Sollidenskanen, Segrola Church (Stockholm).

DENMARK:  Performed at prestigious Indian & Danish classical music organizations at Copenhagen, Aalborg and Norre Snede in 2013.

TURKEY:   Invited by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2013 to perform in a historic music collaboration of the Sarod and traditional Tar of Azerbaijan played by the renowned Tar player Nevcivan Ozel at Istanbul.

QATAR:   Invited by the Govt. Of Qatar in 2011 to perform in an international music project at Doha under world renowned French composer Hughes De Courson. The occasion was graced by His Excellency, The Emir of Qatar.

KUWAIT:  Performed a Sarod recital at Kalanjali, Kuwait City in 2013.

SINGAPORE: Performed a Sarod recital at the Tagore Society,Singapore in 2012.

BANGLADESH: Performed at Gulshan Club,Dhaka in ‘11 & also “Borsho Boron” in ’12.

Some of Debanjan's notable achievements are-

• Debanjan has earned the coveted President's Gold Medal for standing FIRST nationally in the prestigious music competition held by the All India Radio in the year 2008

.· Debanjan’s album “Rising Stars” has been nominated for Best Classical Album for the most coveted ”GiMA – Global Indian Music Academy Awards 2012” alongside great Legends of Indian Classical Music.

He is also an empanelled artiste under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India.

• ITC – Sangeet Research Academy (West) & Acharya Allaudin Music Circle, Mumbai has conferred upon him the "Acharya Allaudin Khan Memorial" award, after being declared 1st in the AIR competition.

• In 2006, he secured the FIRST position (thereby winning the Pt. Nikhil Banerjee Memorial Trophy) in the Instrumental classical music competition, organised by The Dover Lane Music Conference, a premier music organisation of Kolkata.

• He was awarded the National Scholarship of Musicfrom the Centre for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT), New Delhi in 1997.

• Won the FIRST prize in a competition of Indian Instrumental Classical music organised by Baba Allaudin Khan Memorial Committee, in collaboration with Rajya Sangeet Academy, Kolkata, in the year 1996.

• He is a graded artiste with the All India Radio & Doordarshan , Kolkata.

• An album ‘Rising Stars – Debanjan Bhattacharjee’ (nominated for Best Album by GiMA Awards 2012) has been released by Sonic Octaves, Mumbai in 2011.
