Durjay Bhaumik

Durjay Bhaumik was born in a family of musicians and brought up in Kolkata, a place known for musical virtuoso as well as music lovers. Brought up in such musical environment, he was attracted towards the wonderful percussion instrument "Tabla" at his very tender age.

As a Tabla Player Durjay Bhaumik has had the opportunity and good fortune to accompany some well known instrumentalists & vocalists during his career spanning more than two decades .This was largely because of the confidence and the proficiency he had attained during his training under masters like Pt. Dulal Nutta of Lucknow Gharana, Pt. V.Malviya of Farukhabad Gharana and Guru Suresh Talwalkar. His credentials were good enough to claim the right spot at the classical music concerts.

His remarkable dedication and intensive training made him not only a noted soloist but also an excellent accompanist to vocal as well as instrumental music. His clarity of playing and tonal excellence is worth mentioning. He has the distinction of accompanying prominent musicians of national and international repute (celebrities), which has been highly appreciated. He is a widely travelled artist and has actively participated in several national and international music conferences.

Durjay Bhaumik is a graded artist of All India Radio, Doordarshan, ICCR and associated with the S&DD family of Govt. of India.

He also started teaching Tabla in Delhi particularly to young and aspiring Tabla players.
