Biography

Dhruv was born in the family of musicians. His grooming in sitar began at tender age of four years. Born in 1990 Dhruv started learning from his father Sh. Jagdeep Singh Bedi, a renowned Sitar and Surbahar artist. Nowadays, he is fortunate to receive training under the guidance of the internationally renowned Sitar and Surbahar Maestro Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee. Dhruv honed his skills in the traditional form of “Guru Shishya Parampara”. He is now regarded as one of the most promising upcoming sitar players in the country.

Being a part of ‘Imdadkhani Gharana’ Dhruv has an exceptional and natural ability to play the ‘Gayaki Ang’ (vocal style) on sitar. He has collaborated with different genres of music and performed with Carnatic classical musicians, jazz musicians, Korean musicians, Russian musicians and other western genres of music in India and abroad. His approach to ‘rhythm’ and ‘sur’ is largely intutive, fresh and spontaneous.

Career

Dhruv is an ‘A’ Grade Artist of All India Radio in the field of Hindustani Music (Instrumental) sitar and regularly gives solo performaces in Radio and T.V.

Dhruv has performed extensively all over India and abroad in all major festivals in countries like USA, U.K., Switzerland, Sweden , Spain, Russia, Mauritius, South Korea , etc. to name a few.

Dhruv is an empanelled artist with I.C.C.R. Dhruv has performed in many prestigious festivals including World Economic Forum-Davos-Switzerland, Utsav Music Festival at John F. Kennedy center for performing Arts USA, Delhi Jazz Festival, Vishnu Digamber Jayanti Sangeet Samaroh, Delhi Ethano Music Festival in Sweden, BRICS Summit- Goa and Jaipur, Silk Route Festival N.C.P.A. Mumbai, Chandigarh Music Festival, and Aarohi Music Festival, Asian Music Festival-South Korea amongst many others.
