Dr. Vishal is an award-winning researcher of international acclaimed, a trained classical musician ( Sitar Player) and educator whose work bridges Indian classical music, pedagogy, and technology. Holding a Ph.D. in Music from the University of Delhi, his doctoral research examined the role of audio-visual recording studios in advancing Indian music, a theme that has guided his career-long focus on integrating technology into music education and performance.
His academic contributions have been recognized with major research and academic honors, including the International Society of Music Education (ISME) World Conference Award (2022), the Government of India (2018), the prestigious UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowship (2014), and the UGC Fellowship for doctoral research (2008). Earlier in his career, he was awarded the Gold Medal and the Lal Mani Misra Award by Panjab University (2005) for outstanding achievement in music. He was also shortlisted for the Fulbright Fellowship interview, reflecting the international resonance of his work. His international exposure to countries such as New Zealand, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, the UAE and others has enriched his vision of music as a universal language and a tool for cross-cultural dialogue.
Dr. Vishal has collaborated with apex institutions such as NCERT and the University Grants Commission (UGC) to design digital resources, curricula, and courses on audio engineering and music technology.
Currently based in Mumbai, he leads innovative outreach initiatives that make music learning accessible to children, professionals, and communities. His work demonstrates how tradition and technology can converge to create inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready models of music education — a vision he continues to champion as a speaker, researcher, and cultural leader.
