Amjad Ali Khan has performed at numerous prestigious music festivals, including the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav (Pune), Maha Shivratri Sangeet Sammelan (by Sargam Mandir), Arpan Mahotsav and Sopan Mahotsav (organized by Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi), Delhi Youth Festival, Gangubai Music Festival, Tihai Music Festival, Samrath Music Festival (Goa), and the Hari Vallabh Music Festival (Jalandhar).
In 2015, his performance at the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav received significant media acclaim. Earlier, he was ranked first among 85 participants at the Hari Vallabh Music Festival in December 2002. He was also awarded the title of Surmani at the 43rd Kal Ke Kalakar Sangeet Sammelan held in Mumbai in 2004.
Internationally, Amjad Ali Khan has performed at events such as the China Asian Festival (2004), Namaste India Festival in Japan (2009), Vienna Music Festival, concerts in Switzerland, Greece, Germany, Spain, Dubai, Moscow, London and Ireland Tour (2024). He has also performed during the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, which took place on 27 July 2012 at the Olympic Stadium in London. The ceremony, formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II, was regarded as a celebration of British talent, creativity, and openness.
In 2024, he participated in the Moqqam Art International Festival, delivering performances alongside artists from 80 countries, where he contributed to Indian classical vocal music achieving both first and second places at an international level.
In addition to festival appearances, Khan has performed at various prestigious events, including tributes to Pandit Deena Nath Mangeshkar and at medical and cultural conferences like the Golden Jubilee Conference organized by the Health Education and Research Trust at Hotel Jaypee Palace, Agra.
Light Classical and Playback Singing
Besides pure classical music, Amjad Ali Khan is highly regarded for his interpretations of light classical forms such as ghazal, thumri, dadra, and bhajan.
He is an "A" grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, and has provided playback singing for television serials such as Shareek-e-Ghalib, Ahsaas Parampara, and Krishan Murli. He has collaborated with several well-known music directors, most notably singing for a private album produced by the duo Amjad Nadeem, known for their work in films like Zila Ghaziabad, Maximum, and Yeh Dooriyan.
Music Direction
Khan has directed music for several ballet productions and private albums, including a ballet based on the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore in Bangladesh. He has also composed music for the poetry of Mirza Ghalib, Ras Khan, Amir Khusro, and others.
