Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Vibhakar Sri
Arkendu Mitra, a disciple of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, born in a Musical Family.
At very early stage, he took his lesson from his father Sri Ashoke Kumar Mitra
(also a disciple of Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri). He has shown his talent in
Tabla-recital in Indian classical music (Hindustani style) from his child-hood.
Now at this age, he bagged many awards and performed in many prestigious shows.
He secured ‘First position’ both in “Rajya
Sangeet Academy” and in “All Bengal Tabla Lahara Compitition” respectively in
1994 & 1995. In 2001, he also stood ‘First’ in “All India Music
Compitition” organized by “Prayag Sangeet Samity”, Allahabad and in “Hirendra
Kumar Gangopadhyay Memorial Compitition” organized by “West Bengal State
Academy of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University”.
He awarded “Talent Search Scholarship” from “Centre for Cultural Resource and
Training”, New Delhi in 1996 and “Senior Scholarship” from “Govt. of India,
Ministry of Tourism and Culture”, New Delhi in 2004. He also awarded “Taal
Mani” title from “Kaal Ke Kalakar Sammelan” held in Mumbai in 1997.
His
commendable performances are open concerts conducted by “All India Radio”
(1994-1997 in a row) and programs by “Doordarshan Kendra Kolkata” (1996 &
1999), “Baba Alluddin Sangeet Samaroh”, Maihar (1998), “Swami Haridas Sangeet
Sammelan”, Mumbai (1999), Salt Lake Cultural Association, Kolkata etc.
Also as an Accompanist, he performed with Vocal
and Instrumental Artists such as Pandit Samaresh Chowdhury, Pandit Mohanlal
Mishra, Pandit Kamal Mallick, Sri Chandan Mallick, Smt. Bakul Chattopadhya,
Acharya Sri Biswanath Sur, Sri Sujoy Basu, Pandit Ravi Sen, Sri Bhaskar Sen and
others all over in India.
