Born in the world famous city of temples where music is represented through the stone sculptures known as Khajuraho, Awantika Dubey has been serving music from an early age of four years. She received her initial training in Bundeli from her father Dr. Ashok Dubey. Later on she was able to focus more intensely on various aspects of classical form of music under the able guidance of Guru Shri Gyanesh Zadiya & Smt Asha Khare. Her skills were polished time to time from different gurus.
Awantika got her training of theater under Late Sushri Vibha Mishra. Nourishing a keen interest in Kathak dance she became disciple of the renowned Kathak Dancer Pt. Ram Mohan Maharaj (Kathak maestro), who molded her into a fine classical kathak dancer as well as installed a sense of strong discipline and motivated her to be a perfectionist in dance as well as in singing. She has excellent foot-work and very taste fully poised abhinay (Bhav). She is one of those rare artists who are equally adept in presenting fabulous performances in both singing and dancing.
Awantika Dubey combines the strength of tradition and spirituality with a versatile virtuosity a combination that gives her dancing and singing an unusual and attractive appeal. A slim winsome stage personality Awantika Dubey has been endowed by nature liberally. Awantika is a regular artist of All India Radio (AIR) Chhatarpur. She has been the recipient of several awards & honors including fellowships awarded by CCRT govt. of India. Awantika had also taken part in the famous 51st Asia Pacific Film Festival Taiwan (Taipei).
Awantika as a folk singer
Awantika Dubey is a born artist she start singing from a very early age of two & half years. Her father trained her in the traditional art form Bundeli. Awantika is trained under the able guidance of Shri Gyanesh Zadiya who teaches her various aspects of classical, light & folk music. Awantika also got an opportunity to learn folk music from the King of Folk music Shri Deshraj Pateria. She also got blessings of Smt Urmila Pandey & Smt Lakshmi Tripathi.
Awantika is groomed finely by the knowledge of all the above folk Gurus. Awantika's father has tremendous knowledge of Bundeli art form, which he fed to her. In her young age, she always liked to collect the traditional songs in rural area.
Awantika is the winner for continuous 8 years in Bundeli Utsav Basari. She performs in ‘Bharat Parva’ by Swaraj Sansthan, Bhopal. She also performed folk music internationally for International Folk art festival Taiwan. She respects her Bundeli art form a lot and tries to preserve the melodies and songs by making their notations.
