Chetan Sosca is a playback singer based in Bengaluru (earlier Bangalore), India. Having sung more than 700 songs and recipient of many prestigious awards, Chetan is one of the prominent figure in the Kannada Film and Music Industry.
Chetan started his film career in 2001 with the movie ‘Kothigalu Saar Kothigalu’ with the famed music composer Dr. Hamsalekha. Wide popularity and recognition came in 2006 with success of the music of the movie Nenapirali, once again with Dr. Hamsalekha. Along with popular support, he also received the Udaya and ETv awards for his singing in Nenapirali. He followed it in the year 2007 with the singing of the popular ‘Janumada Gelathi’ from the movie ‘Cheluvina Chiththara’. Chetan’s soulful rendition of the melancholy lyrics struck a chord with the listeners.
Chetan’s 2009 song ‘Yaare Nee Devatheya’ from the film ‘Ambaari’ became a wild hit, again bringing him trophies along with a large fan following. He was awarded with the Karnataka State Award and the Filmfare (Kannada) Award, to name a few, for his vocals of the number which touched many hearts.
Chetan Sosca continued with many more hits in the years 2010 and 2011, winning audience and critics alike. His recent hit ‘Pyarge Aagbittaite’ from the film ‘Govindaya Namaha’ has become an internet sensation with more than a million hits on YouTube, prompting some avid listeners to call it the ‘next Kolavari’. The audience seems to have taken to the somewhat retro style of singing in this song, so ably rendered by Chetan.
The multi-talented Chetan Sosca is also an accomplished basketball and handball player. He has represented his state Karnataka in National Senior Championships in Handball.
