Mihir Kallianpur born on 2nd July 1993. He was initiated into basic tabla at a tender age of seven years and for the past several years has been undergoing advanced training from Ustad Shabbir Nisar of Hyderabad, son and disciple of legendary tabla Nawaaz Shaik Dawood Khan Sahab. Gifted Mihir is a role model of dedication, hard work, patience and perseverance and after rigorous training and Riyaz has developed into a first class tabla player and is now recognized as a young musician of outstanding talent. Encouragement in the form of scholarship from ‘SURSAGAR’, Bangalore and Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi came early along with recognition in the form of awards. Mihir has topped several competitions and won prizes. Also at a very young age has been appreciated by the doyens of music like Late Smt Gangubai Hangal. Leading musicians like Smt Lalita Ubhayker, Pandit Madhav Gudi, Ustad Hamid Khan, Smt Lalit. J. Rao, Smt Aditi Upadhayay among others have recognized his talent and blessed him. He has also received the ‘POGO AMAZING KIDS’ award and has participated in the world’s largest symphony of Indian Classical Music. Mihir has given tabla solo concerts at many prestigious organizations like Canara Union, Sursagar, Hindustani Sangeeth Vidyapeeth, Saptak, Lions Club, Swar Saptak, etc.He has also accompanied several vocalists and instrumentalists and was acknowledged as a sensitive and skillful accompanist. Mihir`s talent was recognized by Sitar Wizard Shahid Parvez Khan with whom he performed at a concert in Bangalore. He has also performed in prestigious music festivals such as Devnandan Ubhayker Yuva sangeet utsav in Bangalore and Bharatiya Sangeet Vidyalaya in Dharwad.
