Biography

Smt. Archana Kanhere was born in a family of a Kirtankar and Tabla player Late Vasudeo R. Upadye. She got all preliminary lessons in music from her father. This helped her in persuing an academic career in Music. She has a distinction of ranking First in B.A. (Music) from S.N.D.T. college at Pune & stood second in M.A. (Music).

She has performed in many prestigious music programmes. To name a few, Tansen Samaroha at Gwalior, Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Samaroha at Pune, and NCPA Mumbai.

She looks forward to do a music direction in future to come. In this line, an album namely Bhavbhakti Dhara is ready to get released. Smt. Archana Kanhere is the vice-president of Swarendu. She is also a consultant to a popular Doordarshan serial Raag Ek Rang Anek which is purely based on Indian Classical Music.

Currently Archana has taken up an assignment of being senior professor in Indian Classical Music for Indian Womans' Club in Bangkok, Thailand.

Career

Being a genuine music scholar, Archana Kanhere is currently doing a research on Bandish under the guidance of Pt. Shankar Abhyankar. She has performed in many prestigious music programmes. To name a few, Tansen Samaroha at Gwalior, Sawai Gandharva Sangeet Samaroha at Pune, and NCPA Mumbai. In 1993, she had a very successful tour to U.S.A and Canada during which her music concerts were widely acknowledged by audience. She has been a versatile vocalist all along. With a good success in classical music, she also has exceptional talent for Marathi and Sanskrit Natya Sangeet. Smt. Archana Kanhere is a vice-president of Swarendu. She is also a consultant to a popular Doordarshan serial Raag Ek Rang Anek which is purely based on Indian Classical Music. Currently Archana has taken up an assignment of being senior professor in Indian Classical Music for Indian Woman's' Club in Bangkok, Thailand.
