Uday Kulkarni was born on 2nd January 1985 in Ichalkaranji(maharashtra).It was his grandfather Shri.Shridhar kulkarni who initiated him to the mysterious art of percussion. Uday started learning tabla under shri H.Somashekhar at the age of 13..Just within one year he participated in Tamankar competition and received 2nd place from the hands of Padmabhushan Dr.Gangubai Hangal . He learnt under Shri H.Somashekhar for 4 years. He had lot of passion for learning so he further became the disciple of Pt.Ravindra Yavagal from Bangalore for 2 years. He is also fortunate enough to have taken guidance under Pt.Surajpurandare of dharwad.He has also received training under Pt.Suresh Samant of Pune And PtVamanrao Mirazkar from Kolhapur.He is thus fortunate enough to have learnt under the Lineage of Legendry Tabla Maestro Ustad Ahmed Jan Tirakwa and presently under the lineage of Ustad Amir Hussain Khan ..He is doing his research in the subject ”Study Of Compositions and their development in Delhi and Farukhabad Gharana”.
