Biography

Urvashi Shah is a distinguished Hindustani Classical vocalist whose musical journey began at a young age. She received her initial training for seven years under Smt. Meera Banerjee of the Patiala Gharana in Kolkata. After moving to Pune in 1998, she continued her advanced training under the legendary Vidushi Dr. Veena Sahasrabuddhe of the Gwalior Gharana from 1999 to 2014 and also received valuable guidance from Pandit Mohan Karve between 2001 and 2005.

A highly respected classical vocalist, Urvashi has established herself as a prominent performer and educator. She has earned both Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Alankar degrees from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj. Her performances are marked by classical purity, emotional depth, and an ability to connect with audiences across diverse musical settings.

Beyond concerts, she has actively contributed to music education through training students, conducting workshops, and promoting the therapeutic and cultural aspects of Indian classical music.

Career

Urvashi Shah has built a successful career as a Hindustani Classical vocalist, performer, mentor, and workshop facilitator. She is recognized as an All India Radio (AIR) artist for Hindi Geet and Bhajans and has performed extensively in major cities including Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and internationally in Austria and the United Kingdom.

She was the Winner of the Bal Gandharva Classical Music Contest, Pune (2003) and has been honored with the National Integration Award by the Governor of West Bengal. She is an All India Radio artist for Hindi Geet and Bhajans and has represented Indian classical music on prestigious national and international stages, including London and Vienna. Her contributions extend beyond performance through music education, corporate workshops, and the promotion of Indian classical music among diverse audiences.
