Prashant Kalundrekar received the initial education of music from Pt. Anant Mahajani, Gwalior. He has completed Sangeet Alankaar successfully from Khairagadh University. He came to Mumbai for further musical progress and career. Later, he took the guidance from Pt. Anant Kemkar, Pt. Prakash Sangeet and Sri. Ajit Kadkade. In 1993 he became a graded artiste of ‘Akashvani’, Mumbai. Since then regularly performs for ‘Akashwani’, Mumbai and ‘Mumbai Doordarshan.
He admires and follows the legendary singers like Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, Pt. Kumar Gandharva and Dr.Vasantrao Deshpande. He specializes in 'Abhang Gayaki’ and Natyasangeet. He receives the valuable guidance of Pt. Shrinivas Khale, Mukund Marathe, Vinay Rajwade.
He has bagged many awards and prizes in different music competitions.He performs musical programrnes in all over lndia. Some of the performances given in - Nagpur, Jamshedpur, Jhanshi, Bhopal, Lukhnow,Gwalior, jodhpur, Shivpuri etc.
Prashant Kalundrekar has given a playback to different professional Marathi dramas like ‘Loka Sange Brahmadnyan, ‘Take it easy’, ‘Nay No Never’ and the most recent and popular 'Shivba’Recently Prashant has recorded patriotic songs each for 2 CDS for R.S.S., Pune named- ‘Hindu Hindu Ek Rahe’ and ‘Hindu Sara Ek’ under the music arranger Mr. Vinay Rajwade. He has also performed in 'Lokneta' a popular serial on Aakashwaani.
Dr. Shubha Ashok Chitnis, in her book 'Yashvant', mentions a chapter about him, in which she has given a write up on 61 successful personalities in different fields in Thane city, inaugurated by Dr. Manohar Joshi.
