Shweta Pandya is a singer & performer in New Jersey, USA. She has been training in the Indian classical arts for over 20 years. Shweta is trained in Hindustani Sangeet (Vocal and Instrumental), Bharatanatyam, and Kathak.
She completed her Madhyama Purna (Vocal Music) in 2008 under the guidance of her guru, Smt. Mrinalini Arkatkar (disciple of Dr. M. V. Patwardhan) at Gamak Academy in Troy, MI. In 2009, she completed her Madhyama in Harmonium, and in 2014, she completed her “baithak,” sometimes also known as a “kalavandan.”
In 2021, Shweta completed her Master of Arts in Performing Arts (Vocal) from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in Surat.
Currently, Shweta teaches both Hindustani vocal and keyboard at Sur Sangat to students of all ages and backgrounds. She teaches students both in person and online, and has students from all over the country, including California, Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan. Her goal is to teach the Hindustani traditions of shruti, swara, raga, and tala to the next generation in the hopes that they too will pass it along to the next.
