Deo Narain Mishra from Varanasi comes from a family of extremely talented musicians . His grandfather Late Pt. Shrichandra Mishra ji (Guru of Padmavibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi ji) and Maternal Grandfather “Thumari Samrat” Pt. Mahadeo Prasad Mishra ji were two renowned Singers of their time. With both Parents being Singers too, Deo’s personal interest and love towards drums made him inclined towards Tabla.
The Ancestors in Deo’s family were basically Tabla Players and he belongs to the lineage of “Pt. Sharan ji”, who was among the 5 Frontier disciples of Pt. Ram Sahai ji (the “pravartak” of the Banaras Gharana) .
His great grandfather being Pt. Vikramaditya Mishra ji, the guru of The Wizard of Tabla - Pt. Samta Prasad ji (aka Gudai Maharaj ji)
He was primarily being trained by his mother, and later with growing age and understanding of details, he began a new journey of Learning the Traditional Banaras Baaj from respected Pt. Puran Maharaj Ji who is the Grandson of the legendary maestro “Vadya Shiromani” Pt. Kanthe Maharaj Ji and son of Padmavibhushan Pt. Kishan Maharaj Ji.
With strong and dedicated training of around 12 years (and still counting) received from his guru, Deo has attained tactics, details as well as a huge collection of Traditional Compositions and blessings from his guru as well as other seniors of the Gharana.
He has attained training of Accompaniment as well as performing Solo in different Taals (Beats) and has worked finely on the Laykaari as well as Nikaas (the way a particular note is played) of the Benaras Baaj training with the Blessings and highly experienced teaching of Pt. Puran Maharaj Ji .
Deo has also attained love and appreciation from seniors of the Gharana and presented his progress amongst them time to time . Deo has appeared in several music Festivals and baithaks , both as an accompanist as well as a soloist . Getting an opportunity to accompany renowned artists has itself been a token of receiving blessings from them and a motivation for doing better in coming future.

Deo has a deep understanding of Music of Benaras Gharana and has developed Art compositions in form of musical Drama and Dance inspired from his uncle Padmavibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj ji. He also has collaborated with various other artists time to time to create musical experiments that can create wonderful environment and please the viewers of any place or region.
