“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight
to the imagination and life to everything,” said by Plato.
Ms. Sanjana Kaushik, born on 19th of June in
1995, is imbibing this precious and special form of art since her childhood through
immense support from her encouraging parents namely Mr. C. A. Ravindra and Mrs.
Tara Ravindra, who are
Perfusionist and Home-maker by profession and occupation respectively.
It is
often stated,
“Mother is the first preceptor and Home is the first centre of learning”:
It so happened in the case of Sanjana for whom her mother, Mrs. Tara Ravindra,
assisted her in opening her eyes to have a panoramic view of Indian classical
music. Music came along-with speech in her; she trained Carnatic classical vocal
music with Guru Tara ji till her
age of four. It was in the year 1999 that she initiated to absorb Hindustani
classical vocal (Khayal) music in the tutelage of Guru Vid. Lt. Geeta Dutt ji in Jalandhar, Punjab, an
exponent of Kiraana Gharaana, and received the Taaleem from her for around six
years continuously. When the family shifted to Mysuru, Karnataka, in 2005, she continued to learn Hindustani music
with Guru Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath
ji, an exponent of Kiraana and
Gwalior Gharaana. Later, she received an arduous training from Guru Pt. Nagabhushan Hegde ji, an exponent of Kiraana Gharaana, and Guru Pt. Niranjan ji, an exponent of Gwalior Gharaana, who,
as her torch-bearers, lit her up in Taiyaari.
And at present, meticulous and ardent Sanjana is receiving the advanced,
disciplined instruction from the veteran,
bona fide musician, Guru Pt. Arun Kashalkar ji, an exponent of Agra and
Gwalior Gharaana, in Mumbai,
Maharashtra, who is imparting her the knowledge of bringing ‘life in music’
and ‘music in life’ by edifying her with the principles of Agra Gharaana. As H.
B. Adams has said, “A teacher affects
eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops”: Her dedicated, committed and commendable Gurujis
have been incessantly driving and inspiring her to hold the ductile anchor of perfection,
so, she aspires to be a good Hindustani classical musician of India.
“Illumination
and Discovery of Truth last for eternity”: While perpetually traversing the vast, colossal ocean of
classical music over a bit by bit, and, therewith capturing it into the ken
progressively, Sanjana is being able to achieve some accomplishments with the earnest and heartfelt
blessings of her Gurujis, parents and other well-wishers: She gave her first performance of Hindustani
classical vocal music when she was aged
thirteen. Since then, she has been performing on various prominent
platforms in places like Mysuru,
Bengaluru, Puttur, Jalandhar, Dharwad, Hubballi, Rudrapattana, Mattur and
Haveri. Besides, she had been the sixth topper in Karnataka with
the securement of 92.8% in Hindustani classical vocal music – Senior-grade
examination conducted by the state board in May, 2011. She had
been felicitated with Kalaakaar Award
by Sangeetkaar Madan Mohan Yaadgaar Sabha
in Jalandhar, Punjab on October
5, 2002; and with Baala Pratibhaa Ratna
Award by Akhila Karnataka
Brahmana Seva Sangha in Mysuru,
Karnataka on January 26, 2012. She
has also been winning in many vocal-music-contests at the state and national
standards viz. 2nd prize in the 51st Annual All India Classical
Music Khayal Gayaki contest organized by Swar Sadhna Samiti, Mumbai, Maharashtra on Jan 10, 2016; 1st prize in the Indian classical vocal music contest at
the National Interuniversity Music

Youth Festival – 2015 organized by the Association
of Indian Universities (AIU) and the
Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs at Indore,
Madhya Pradesh on Feb. 13, 2015; 2nd
prize in the Hindustani classical
vocal music contest (state-standard)
organized by the Department of Kannada
and Culture in the years 2009 and 2012; and 2nd prize in the Hindustani
classical vocal music contest (state-standard) organized by Udatta Kala Academy at Dharwad, Karnataka in the year 2010 to
name a few. She had been the recipient
of the scholarships provided by Lalita
Kala Academy of Karnataka (2012-13
and 2013-14), Sangeeta-Nrutya
Academy of Karnataka and the
Department of Kannada and Culture (2011-12).
She has been participating in various workshops
given by stalwart musicians of India such as Pt. Indudhar Nirody ji, Pt.
Dr. Rajeev Taranath ji, Vid. Prabha
Atre ji, Ust. Lt. Abdul Rashid Khan
ji and many others. She has also been interviewed by All India
Radio (AIR), Mysuru (2010 and 2014), Prajaa Vaani (Kannada-daily-newspaper
– Feb.28, 2016) and by News1 Kannada TV channel (8th March,
2016) for her proficiency in music. And, owing to the knowledge with which she
is being endowed from her exemplary Gurujis, she has been consistently
receiving kudos and accolades from many musicians in India.
In
respect of her collegiate education,
she is presently pursuing the B.A. course
(sixth semester) in Psychology,
English literature and Sociology at Maharani’s
