   Biography
Dance is a transient mode of expression, performed in a given form and style by the human body moving in space. Dance occurs through purposefully selected and controlled rhythmic movements; the resulting phenomenon is recognized as dance both by the performer and the observing members of a given group.

Dilip Khanderay is director of Shri. Khanderay Kala Mandal Aurangabad. They gives programs of folk dance. His dance performances include Naman, Waghya Murali, Gondhal, Andhra Mathurilok Nrutya, Halgi & Sanai Dance, Abhang, Lezim, Aadivasi Dance, Koli Dance.

   Career
Amazing number of social activities are being conducted by Shri. Dilip S.Khanderay. Few of them are mentioned below:
*  He worked as a connoisseur of more than 150 classical dance, folk dance competitions all over India.
*  He has given 75 talks on dancing before art teachers, artists, school and college students all over Maharashtra.
*  Worked as on adviser in many cultural Institutions in Maharashtra, organized number of folk dance competitions for poor and rural artist offering honor and financial help.
*  Presented more than 25 programmes on T. V.
*  300 cultural programmes were presented by Shri. Khanderay Kala Mandal, Aurangabad relating to classical dance and folk dance forms of Maharashtra.
*  Shri Dilip S. Khanderay has presented dance shows before people during so many festivals; eg. Pune Festival, Goa Mahotsav, Vasant Utsav, Rankala Mohotsav, Vatsalya Mela-Delhi, Asian Soft Ball Competitions, Seminar of the Committee of Olympic Games, Common-wealth Krida Mahotsav, Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Sammelan, Natya Sammelan, Sant Sahitya Sammelan, Marathwada- Sahitya Sammelan etc.

*  He was honored by Maharashtra State Government for his excellent organization of state level Mahila & Purush Kabaddi Competition at Bilori Dist. Nanded. It was done by the Shivajirao Patil Khanderay Pratishthan.
*  Every year the S. P. Khanderay Pratishthan honours 15 persons that have been very efficiant and have done excellent work in the field of social & cultural activities.
The peculiarities of variety of folk dance activities of Maharashtra are :
•  Naman : Opening lines in praise of God Ganesh. This is the practice continued since thousand of years; and it is the worship of God Ganesh through dance, before the main show of each dancing activity.

• Waghya Murali : Khandoba is the Lord Shiva’s avatar & to pray that Lord Khandoba,Waghya Murali were done the special dance & sings the song. They done all their praying with their Dance,Song,Reading,Writing & everything for their own Lord Khandoba.

• Gondhal : These devotees of Goddess Tuljadevi, Ambadevi, Renuka-mata, Saptashringi mata, the incarnation of Goddess Parvati, worship the Goddess and present the story through music & dance.

• Abhang : The devotees of God Viththal of Pandharpur sing songs, dance and go with loud acclamation to Pandharpur to see him.

• Lezim : Right from the 16th century the farmers in Maharashtra use this peculiar musical instrument along with the small tabor to dance during the crop season.

• Aadivasi Dance : To express joy after the work is over, the Aadivasis Dance, ladies with earthern vessel and gents with a stick.

• Koli Dance : The Koli / fishermen on the western sea shore of Maharashtra, dance in a peculiar way during the Krishnashtami and Ganesh (God) festivals.

• Halgi & Sanai Dance : The laborers dance with a stick in their hand, during Moharrum, Pola and Holi festivals. They have the rhythmical sounds of the small tabor and clarion instruments.

• Andhra Mathurilok Nrutya : The farmers on the border of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra perform this dance with earthen pot of head and a lamp on it and go to worship the Village-Goddess during the festive occasion.

Sanai and Halgi Dholki are traditional marathi jugalbandi instruments. The laborers dance with a stick in their hand, during Moharrum, Pola and Holi festivals. They have the rhythmical sounds of the small tabor and clarion instruments.

Dilip Khanderay and group presents Lezim - folk dance of Maharashtra

Lezim is a small musical instrument with jingling cymbals with which this dance is performed. Dholki, a drum instrument is used as the main percussion music. It is performed dressed in colourful costumes. The formations are in twos and fours and even in a circle. Right from the 16th century the farmers in Maharashtra use this peculiar musical instrument to dance during the crop season.

The Gondhal is a ritual of Maharashtra which includes narrative performance in order to obtain blessings from Goddess Renka or Tuljabhavani.These devotees of Goddess Tuljadevi, Ambadevi, Renuka-mata, Saptashringi mata, the incarnation of Goddess Parvati, worship the Goddess and present the story through music & dance. Gondhal is one of the most extraordinary forms of folk art that is performed in rural as well as urban areas in Maharashtra.

Waghya Murali or Khanderay Bhaktigeet is a dance of the pair Waaghya and Murali who devote their entire lives in the worship of Lord Khandoba of Jejuri. They pray with their Dance, Song, Reading, Writing & everything for their own Lord Khandoba.Shri. Dilip S. Khanderay was the Gold Medalist in Dance, Drama etc. Dilip Khanderay is director of Shri. Khanderay Kala Mandal Aurangabad.
   Awards & Achievements
1. Gold Medalist in Dance ,drama etc during primary and high schooling
2. 1st prize winner in 'Adivasi Dance'.
