Archana Joglekar-Mulye

Archana Joglekar is an Indian actress and classical dancer who has appeared in numerous Marathi and Hindi films and television serials. Some of her noted films are 'Sansaar' (Hindi), 'Eka Peksha Ek' (Marathi) and 'Anapekshit' (Marathi). She is a renowned Kathak dancer and choreographer. She has learned Kathak from her mother Smt. Asha Joglekar, who is also a noted Kathak danseuse and instructor. In 1963, her mother founded a dance school in Mumbai called Archana Nrityalaya. In 1999, Archana opened a branch of this dance school in New Jersey, US.

Archana Joglekar is a celebrated Kathak Dancer of India. Born a child prodigy, she was schooled in detailed nuances of Lucknow & Jaipur Gharana by her mother and ‘Guru’ Asha Joglekar. This multi-talented dancer was honored with titles 'Shringar Mani’ by Sur Singar Samsad and ‘Nritya Bharati’ by Hindi Sahitya Parishad, Prayaag. Her perfection, capacity to perform intricate footwork with unbelievable ease, Abhinaya of par excellence, uncanny ability to move from one character to another within a flicker of an eye has won over the pundits, critics as well as masses at home and abroad. She is the first Kathak dancer to perform at The Elephanta Festival, Mumbai, the first and perhaps the only Indian classical dancer to perform at the Reikjawik Art Festival in Iceland. Besides, various prestigious art festivals in India she has won over applause around the world.

She is an accomplished choreographer in the field of live stage shows, feature films and Television. Her choreography like 'Ritu Rag Darshan'- the ballet, 'Saura - Sukta': based on the Sanskrit verses(Richas) from Rig-Veda, 'Ganapathy Atharvasheersha'- Sanskrit Shlokaas praising Lord Ganesha, 'Ardha-nari Nateshwar'- the half woman-half man form of Lord Shiva, have been highly acclaimed by the critics.

Archana Joglekar is a well known film actress and has featured in no. of Hindi films as well as other Indian language films. She has won many awards such as ‘Best Actress Award’ for her performances in feature films as well as TV serials. Behind the camera, she is a successful director, and a producer of TV serials.

Archana Joglekar started her acting career with a Marathi fILM 'Ardhangi' directed by Rajdutt. She did lead roles in many Marathi movies where she worked with all lead actors like Sachin, Ajinkya Deo. Archana was also dance director of Marathi movie 'Nivdung' where she was lead actress. The songs of this film are all time hit. Archana acted in two Oriya movies in Oriya Cinema named 'Suna Chadhei' and 'Stree'. Archana won Critics Award of Orissa State Govt. for her lead role in Suna Chodhei. Archana acted in many Hindi, Marathi Films. She also did lead role in Bangla film " Jeeban Sangi", Tamil Film 'Mogh Mool' which own National Award.

Archana Nrityalaya : Archana Nrityalaya, Mumbai is a highly reputed Kathak dance academy in India, now having its branch in USA. Archana Nrityalaya - The Kathak Dance Academy was founded by Guru Asha Joglekar in 1963.  Guru Asha Joglekar’s exceptional teaching skills, ability to find the plus points in each student and enhancing that into finer point of Kathak, personal attention and in-depth knowledge offered to every student in the institute are the contributing factors to making Archana Nrityalaya a highly reputed Kathak dance academy in India and in USA.

In 1994 Archana picked upto writing and directing. She wrote and directed Marathi TV serial 'Awaghachi Sansar'. In this serial, many welcknown actors like Vikram Gokhale, Prashant Damle, Mohan Joshi, Savita Prabhune worked under her direction. This serial was very popular. In 1993, Archana produced,wrote and directed Hindi TV serial 'Samrajya' starring : Vikram Gokhale, Neena Joshi, Tom Atter, Urmila Bhat, Anant Jog, Sudhir Pandey, Sudhir Dalvi, Ashok Samarth (was introduced in this serial.)This serial was critically acclaimed and was on the top -10 chart.

Since 1999, Archana migrated to USA where she has established her dance academy on the east coast. She has also established SAMVED EXAM BOARD for Indian classical art form for entire North America. She is continuing her art persuits in USA and also continues to perform Kathak at all the prestigious venues in USA. Archana was invited by Princeton University to teach Kathak consecutively for 3 years. She conducted Lec-Dems of Kathak at Princeton University along with Dr. Sunil Kothari. And independently at Duke University. She has honor to perform at prestigeous Lincoln Center, NY on invitation by Julliards Music School. As a scholar and dancer she is truly a league of her own.
