Kalamandalam Shiju Kumar
   Biography
Born on April 10 in Thachonam a village from Kollam dist. He learned Kathakali 1991 to 1997, in Kerala kalamadalam from Gurus Kalamandalam Rajasekharan, Kalamandalam Prasannakumar and Kalamandalam Gopakumar. In 1997 wrote a new kathakali story’ Ekalavyacharitham’performed in Kalamandalam, and performing so many stages in Kerala. Received award Vellody Medal, and Best Poet from Kalamandalam 2004 to writing Janani an American monthly Arts and special issues. In 2004 Wrote script ‘Koodiyattam’ documentary film for Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan Trivandrum. In 2005 wrote story about Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ in kathakali version ‘Suvarna Bahukam’. In 2007 wrote and directed a Chinese love story ‘Butterfly Lover’s’ in Kathakali version Sunanda Gunapalam. Performing characters Pacha, Kari and Thadi all over in India. Visited foreign countries Taiwan, Germany, Austria, France,China,Italy many times for Kathakali performance with own group. Ekalavyacharitham, Butterfly lovers and Othello are specialty performances of his own group.

   Career
Ekalavya charitham (Kathakali) at Kerala Kalamandalam, inaugurated by Padmasree ONV Kurup-1997 
Barabathi Festival at Katak in Orissa-1999 Have been performing in Taiwan India festival organized by Indian music and culture, ITA, World Heritage Organization and Dream Community since 2004  
Performed Dance Festival in Austria -2005. Kathakali performance was conducted in Germany -2006. 
Performed ‘Butterfly lovers’ Kathakali version for India Festival, organized by Indian Embassy and IMC at Taipei City Hall in Taiwan-2007. Performed own story ‘Butterfly lovers’ organized by Indian Embassy and ICCR at Beijing in china--2008.
Natyasangamam Kerala day celebrations held on 2010 IITF, Pragathimaithan, New Delhi Vadakkunadhan Dance festival at Thrissur in Kerala-2011.  
Performed Kathakali in International Drama Festival at Changhua in Taiwan -2011.  Performed Kathakali at Hospet in Karnataka-2012.
Bhasmasuramohini The Creation dance in Nisagandhi Festival at Trivandrum-2013.
DTPC Kozhikode, kerala 2013 (Onam celebration) 
Performed Kathakali in Da-Ai Television, Taiwan-2013. 
Dance Fusion ‘Sense Beyond’ in Narada Ganasabha hall, Chennai – 2014. 
Bharath Fest, Theertha padamandapam, Trivandrum -2014.   
Performed the musical dance theatre named ‘The Madam Butterfly ‘(own script and choreography) at CKS Memorial Hall in Taiwan-2014.  
Performed the musical dance theatre named ‘Legend of Taj Mahal ‘(own script and choreography) at CKS Memorial Hall in Taiwan-2015. 
Kathakali performance was done for International Dance Festival in Poland-2015.  Kathakali Kerala Sangitanadaka akademi-2016. DTPC Kannur, Kerala 2015,2016 (Onam celebration) 
Performed the musical dance theatre named ‘The Indian Dancer and spices voyage’ at CKS Memorial Hall in Taiwan-2018. 
Kathakali Performance in Dream Community art village in Taipei-2018.
Participate Kathakali Performance Navaratri Festival Trivandrum -30 september 2022.  (Organized by Brahmin sabha Valiyasala)In 1997 wrote a new kathakali story’ Ekalavya charitham’performed in Kalamandalam and performing so many stages in Kerala.
