   Biography
Mohiniattam exponent : Saji Menon
After completion of Saji Menon's  schooling in Gwalior,  with deep affection towards dance & with immense family support,  she joined Nalanda Nritya kala Mahavidyala in Mumbai,  a premier institution enjoying unique position in the world of dance & education.

Saji has been under the direct tutelage of the renowned Mohiniattam exponent and dance scholar,  Padmashree  and Padmabhushan Smt Dr. Kanak Rele,  the founder and education director of Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyala. Saji was junior lecturer at the same institute where she is pursuing her advance training under the able guidance of her guru.

   Career
*   Conducting her own Mohiniattam dance institute ‘Kanakam Nritya Academy’,  affliated to Nalanda Dance Research Centre (Mumbai) since year 2002. 
*   Year 2003 to 2007 – was JuniorLlecturer at Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya (Mumbai). 
Saji has participated in many prestigious shows and festivals all over india and abroad,  and was also invited for judgement at many functions. Mentioned below are few of the major events in which she has performed: 
*   The 58th art & dance festival,  at sri krishna gana sabha,   chennai on 31 dec 2013.
*   Uday Shankar Nrityotsav 2013,   on 11 dec 2013,  at Rabindra sadan,  Kolkata,  organised by govt of West Bengal.
*   Yuva Kalaparva 2013,   Dance Fest,  oct 28,   at Ravindra Natya Mandir,  Mumbai,  organised by the Navaneetham cultural trust.
*   Kalabharathi national young Dance Fest 2013 (april 25 – 30 )at Sahithya Akademi campus – thrissur)and was Awarded with the 'Yuva Nrutha Prathibha Award.' 
*   66th Independence Day Of India Celebration In Srilanka,  (Aug 15 ~ 19,  2012). Sponsored By The Indian Council For Cultural Relations (Iccr),  New Delhi In Association With The Ministry Of Cultural Affairs And Arts,  Government Ofsri Lanka And The Global Organization Of People Of Indian Origin. 
*   At ‘Chembur Fine Arts Society’ on the occasion of Janmashtami on Aug 10 2012. 
*   Character role in the ‘Vithala Tujhe Charnee’ a Nalanda Dance Research Center production at Ravindra Natya Mandir,  Mumbai ,  2012.
*   At the India World Cultural Forum,  New Delhi,  3rd Annual Sangeet Nritya Utsav Mar 2012.
*   World Cotton Research Conference – 5,  held at Hotel,  Renaissance Convention Centre,  Mumbai on 7th Nov 2011. 
*   5th Akhila Bharatha Navaha Sathram organised at Dombivli (Midc Ground) on 30th Oct 2011.
*   Kalasagar Awards 2011,  at Ernakulum,  Kerala,  on 28th May 2011. 
*   At the prestigious Khajuraho Dance Festival 2011 on 2nd Feb 2011. 
*   In Gwalior,  Madhya Pradesh,  on 30th oct 2010 at the Golden Jubilee Kerala Samajam Festival which was also telecasted by the media channel. Refer to articles in the 5 leading newspapers of the state. 
*   At the ‘ Nakshatra Festival’ organized at The National Centre for performing arts (NCPA) in Mumbai on 6th Oct 2010 (refer to article/pic in the hindustan times paper of 10th oct 2010)
*   At the ‘ Mohana Sandhyakal’ by Srushti & Whiteline Journal’s,  Mohiniyattam Festival on 14th August,  2010,  at Nerul,  New Mumbai.
*   At the ‘Nrutyankur’ organised by Nrutya Aradhana Research Centre at Marine Lines,  Mumbai,  on 30 May 2010. 
*   61st  Anniversary celebrations of ‘Keraleeya Samajam’ Dombivli,  Mumbai.
*   Received ‘ Singar Mani Award ‘ for her Mohiniattam performance at the 48th Kal Ke Kalakar Sammelan in 2009 by the Sur Singar Samsad. 
*   In the Nalanda Nrityotsava-2009 
*   Her performance was highly appreciated by the critics at the ‘Nritya Pratibha’ 2005 organized by ‘Sangeet Natak Akademi’,  New Delhi.
*   10th International Vortex Workshop ‘ Rukmini Svayamvara’ at Homi Bhabha Auditorium,  Mumbai,  2005.
*   At Shaniwarwada Festival in Pune in 2005
*   Performed at the Gunguru Festival organised by Ustad Alahuddin Ravy Sangeet and Kala Academy,  Bhopal. 
*   Performed at most of Nalanda’s productions. Has been a member of dr Kanak Rele’s personal troupe and traveled extinsively with her. 
*   She was Awarded for the ‘Kreevaishik Shastriya Nritya Pratiyogita’ in Mumbai,  2002.
*   She was Awarded the winning prize for ‘Dhina Dhin Dha’ program conducted by Etv in Mumbai,  2002 
*   Awarded Best Dancer Award At Chamber Of Commerce,  Gwalior.

*   Participated in the Interyouth Festival conducted by University of Mumbai in Indian group song,  light vocal theater & folk dance in the year 2001 at National level,  Banaras.  and many performances at shows & festivals all over India.
