   Biography
'Dancing is poetry in motion.'
Revathi Srinivasraghavan is an acclaimed choreographer, teacher, and performer of Bharatanatyam who incorporates her knowledge and creativity into her dance.

Revathi is a critically acclaimed artist and her performances appeal to diverse audiences. She is the founder and director of Nrityaranjani Fine Arts Academy. She has been training dedicated students for the past 25 years, most of whom have blossomed into talented performers. She has students who range from the tender age of 5 to senior professionals in dance. Intensive Nrutya training, knowledge about the theory of dance, special skills for Abhinaya  is imparted to the students here under Revathi’s able guidance. Texts like the ‘Abinaya Darpana’ and ‘Natyshastra’ are taught to students as a part of regular curriculum.  An annual day celebration is organized as a norm where even the youngest dancer is given a platform to showcase her talent. Revathi also conducts examinations for the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Maha Vidhyalaya Mandal. For several years her students have stood first in the Visharad exam in both the Mumbai and the Maharashtra divisions.  Her students also achieve highly in the Alankar examinations. Many of her students have been awarded CCRT Scholarships by the Govt. of India. Her students have participated and won accolades in many prestigious competitions.

To provide a diverse experience to her students, Revathi regularly conducts workshops in Abhinaya, Drama, Gymnastics, Konnakol, Bharatanatyam Make-up, Puppet making, Shadow puppets amongst others. Revathi teaches and inculcates in her students the application of Nritta and Abhinaya to interpret different themes, giving significance to poetry, drama and body postures students also become more aware of their traditions and the richness of cultural mythology through the execution of Nritya.

Learning Bharatnatyam has many physical advantages. When performed with absolute concentration, this art improves body balance and provides the same physical training and health benefits as yoga. Additionally, it builds upon a student’s self confidence, a value that needs to be developed in order to ensure success. This rare combination of cultural and personal training has led to the development of highly skilled and innovative dancers at ‘Nrityaranjani Fine Arts Academy’.

Everyone who has seen Revathi perform across India is awe struck by her inimitable thought process and traditional approach to dance, her Abhinaya speaks volumes. While deeply rooted in the traditional art form, she has evolved her own individual style without forsaking the core principles of Bharatanatyam.

Sound in her acquired knowledge of music, she intricately fuses a blend of complicated rhythms and cross rhythms within her dances. Revathi has also composed many varied Jaathis of the Allarippu. Her proficiency as a Nattuvanaar has been acclaimed and applauded across the community of fine art enthusiasts.
