Upendra got an opportunity to play his first Harmonium solo in 1990 in Upashi Vithoba Sangeet Ustav and since then has worked on his unique style of Gayaki in his Harmonium Solo. He carries the continuity of the Swaras through -out his performances. He has performed harmonium solos in many concerts and has been also popular worldwide through the performances on various Internet Radio Channels. Upendra has given more than 100 harmonium solo concerts successfully all over India in many leading classical music conferences. Extremely “Surel” in his presentation, Upendra also shows a very good sense of “Layakari” in his Solo presentation & is even able to bring “ Bhava” which touches the listener’s hearts in his harmonium playing.
Apart from Solo Harmonium, Upendra also provides accompaniments to many leading classical vocalists all over India and some of them include Dr. Alka Deo Marulkar, Dr. Vikas Kashalkar, Manjiri Asnare Kelkar, Manjiri Alegaonkar, Amol Nisal, Dr.Rewa Natu,Madhuvanti Deo, Ninad Deo, Vinodbhushan Alpe, Saniya Patankar, Rajendra Kandalgaonkar, Mugdha Samant, Sanika Goregaonkar, Hemant Pendse, Pt.Harishandra Gaware, etc. His accompaniments have always been unique where he always tries to open up new avenues for the main vocalist and puts his best efforts to increase the overall level of the concerts. A firm believer of the term "Team Performance" and hence tries to give his best contribution in every accompaniment.
Upendra has also successfully performed in Jugalbandi concerts of Harmonium & Violin with Swapna Datar, a disciple of Pt. Vasantrao Sheolikar of Bhopal. These concerts give a taste of two western instruments, which have established themselves in the Indian Classical Music in a complete Gayaki Style of playing Instrumental classical. This has been a unique popular event where after initial GayakiStyle , the drut Instrumental style of performance is also presented.
