Mukta Raste

                Mukta represents as one of the most versatile young tabla artists in India making music today. She hails from a family with a remarkably musical, cultural and spiritual heritage. Mukta began learning classical vocal music, harmonium and transferred her passion to one of the world’s most complex percussion instruments: the tabla. She was first introduced to tabla and many other percussion instruments by her Uncle Shri Sanjay Karandikar at age of seven. Tabla being usually known as male dominant instrument, ukta displayed an extraordinary skill and an amazing progress in solo as well as accompaniment of tabla. She combines an unparalleled technical command of her instrument with a playful sense of experimentation as she switches effortlessly between producing and performing

• As a percussionist in a very famous standup comedy show ‘Comedy Express’ broadcasted in Etv Marathi.
• Interviewed for the subject ‘Tabla accompaniment for various vocal forms’ in a program ‘Hello Sakhi’ broadcasted by Doordarshan, Mumbai.
• Organized workshops of Tabla for students of Indian classical vocal and Instrumental in Mumbai and Pune.          

·         Second prize winner in Sadhana Music Circle State Level Tabla Competition for the year 2006-07.

·         Second prize winner in music competition held by Kalmadi Shamrao High school for 4 years in a row.

·         Tabla Visharad by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai with First Class.

·         First prize winnerin the Karnatak State Level competition held by Gangubai Hangal Foundation at Dharwar, Karnataka.

·         Participated in ‘Saam Marathi Gurukul’ competition for Tabla.

·         Scholarship awarded by Govt. of India, Ministery Of Culture for the year 2011-2013  “Scholarships to Young Artistes in Different Cultural Fields”
