Nirbhay Saxena

Born on 1^st January,1994 in a musical family at Gwalior,  Nirbhay started learning music at a tender age from his father Sri. Radheyshyam Saxena. Afterwards he received training in classical vocal music for 7 years from Sri. Umesh Kampoowale and also took guidance from Sri. Prabhakar Gohadkar(senior disciple of Rajabhaiya poochwale and Balasaheb poochwale) at Gwalior.

He got selected in August 2011 as a junior scholar at ITC SANGEET RESEARCH ACADEMY, KOLKATA and received training from Sri Omkar Dadarkar. Now he is a senior scholar at ITC SRA, being trained by Padmsri Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar under proper gurushishya parampara.

In the year 2013 , upon his guru Ulhas Kashalkar ji’s advice, he also started taking taalim of Purab-Ang gayaki of thumri, Holi, Chaiti, Kajri, dadra & tappa from  the doyen of Benaras gharana, Padmvibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi in  gurushishya parampara at ITC SRA ,and continued learning from her till she passed away in 2017.

Along with his training at ITC SRA, Nirbhay completed his Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering in 2015 with 6.94 pointer from RGPV, Bhopal.

He earlier obtained Kovid (8 years diploma) in Hindustani classical vocal music from Indira Kala Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh and recently completed his MA in music with 81.40 percentile from the same university.

He is a recipient of the prestigious BAL Shree award for the year 2009. He received scholarship for young artist from Ministry of Culture for the period of 2 years (2014-16).

He has accompanied his gurujans in many prestigious conferences, including –

*SAWAI GANDHARVA with Ulhas Kashalkarji in  2016.

*ITC Sangeet Sammelan with Ulhas kashalkarji.

*ITC Malhar festival with Ulhas Kashalkarji.

*ITC Arpan festival with both Girija Deviji as well as Ulhas Kashalkar ji

*Tansen Sangeet Samaroh with guru Ulhas Kashalkar ji, besides many other conferences.

As an AIR artist of Akashwani, Indore he has regularly performed solo since 2011 at different places in India. Some of his recent performances were at:

*Bhatkhande Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Jabalpur

*Sree Krishna Dhyan Mandir, Pune

*Bihar Industries Association, Patna

During the summer of 2018, Nirbhay has been invited for a series of music concerts and workshops in Germany.
