Biography
Balakrishna ji is applying innovative methodology in teaching the art of Raga alaapanai, swarams
and neraval. Experience in composing music for dance ballets, recitals.Versatility in composing music for pre-existing lyrics as well as my own, in folk,
classical, patriotic-melodies, bhajan form of music.

flute and keyboard. I have been training students in vocal Carnatic music in Dubai and
Sharjah, Worked 12 years as a HOD-MUSIC at Ambervalley Residential School at
Chikmaglur in Karnataka/India.
Career
1990 till 1995 - Bangalore. Karnataka
I provided Carnatic music training for around 40 students in and around Bangalore.
Significant achievements during this period were:
• Gave a solo concert at the 26th Music conference conducted by the Bangalore
Gayana Samaja. This event was covered well by the press.
• Gave a solo music concert arranged by the IISC Gymkhana in Bangalore.
1996 till 1997 - Hassan, Karnataka
I trained around 20-25 students in and around the Hassan area in this period, and also
performed in about 15-20 solo vocal concerts for various events at temples and other
venues in Karnataka.
One student achieved the second rank in Karnataka state, in the Vidwat exam conducted
by the state.
This was a period where I also took care of personal responsibilities by tending to the
family holdings in farmland near Hassan.
1998 till 2000 - Symphony Music Institute — Ajman - UAE.
During this period I trained around 150 students in various musical disciplines like Vocal,
Mridangam, Harmonium, Flute and Veena playing.
I would also support the institute in its endeavours like putting up dance programs by
playing the Mridangam at such events.
2001 till 2004 - Freelance music teacher in the UAE with student strength of 45.
Since the year 2001 I have been training students in vocal Carnatic music in Dubai and
Sharjah, and have built a considerable reputation for myself, creating a virtual waiting list
of applicants for students. Presently performing at various Sabhas in Chennai, Bangalore, Mysore, and all
other places.
2004 to 2016 worked at Ambervalley Residential School at Chikmaglur
• Worked 12 years as a HOD-MUSIC at Ambervalley Residential School at
Chikmaglur in Karnataka/India.
2016---Conducting online classes and performences.

Awards & Achievements
Nearly half the student strength has progressed from basic level to being able to sing
extempore Ragam, Svaram and Neraval.
Two students have given solo vocal recitals in Dubai, one of whom has won prestigious
Indian awards in Dubai for e.g. The Kala Thilakam award.
Personally given around 30 solo music concerts at various venues around Dubai. Composed the music for the dance ballet “Kannagi Shabadam” which was held at the
Indian Consulate in 2003.
Regularly train students for competitions, focusing on boosting their confidence levels,
apart from musical training.
