Kishan Kumar Dewangan is a young upcoming vocalist of Hindustani classical music genre. Born on sacred land of saints and philosophers-Chhattisgarh Prayagraj. Kishan kumar was brought up in highly spiritual environment listening to Bhajan, Naam Sankirtan, Abhangas and the divine tales of gods and deities. An aura of divinity led him towards the intricate beauty of Indian classical music. At a tender age, he joined Indira kala music university Khairagarh to learn music. Here, he learnt for five years. To go through the rigid Ragdari aspect of classical music as well as the Bhajans, Abhang, and Bhakti Geet forms of light music. During this tutelage for 5 years, he got to know about the subtlety of Indian classical music which appears easy on the surface but is a deep abyssal ocean. He learnt few ragas and other light music forms from the Gwalior Gharana.
Kishan's gayaki possesses the true impact of his guru's style of Kirana Gharana. Slow developing and melodious Alaap, fast and lengthy Taans, variations of Boltaans and Saragam altogether give his gayaki the richness of Kirana Gharana. He is highly fortunate to get the rich treasure of Bandishes, Thumaris, Dadra , Tappa, Abhangas, and Bhajans from his Guru and sings all these forms with equal efficiency.
