B.Anantha Raman is a
child prodigy who hails from a South Indian family of music maestros
established in Varanasi. He represents the sixth generation of the
V.K.V. Parampara (tradition). He started his early grooming in violin playing
under the able guidance of his grandfather, Late Sri V.K. Venkata Ramanujam, a
renowned Carnatic violinist who served as a Professor of violin in the Faculty of Performing Arts,
Banaras Hindu University in the eighties. Young Anantha Raman received further training in Hindustani Music since the tender
age of four under his father, Dr. V. Balaji, renowned violinist and a Professor of violin in the Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University. The young
artiste has actually mastered the art of violin playing in both the North
Indian (Hindustani) as well as the South Indian (Carnatic) music systems. He
has successfully accompanied his father and Guru, Dr. V. Balaji in various
National as well as International violin performances.
Besides training and
performances, this young artiste has also imbibed from his father, the zeal for
innovation. He rightly follows the steps of his father enthusiastically in
pursuit of innovative techniques which is obvious in his violin renditions.
