Prashant Shah

Prashant Shah, a senior disciple of Padma Bhushan Smt. Kumudini Lakhia, is one of the very few critically acclaimed male performer and choreographer residing in the New York city. Prashant’s virtuosity in Kathak technique enables him to perform a vast repertoire  with masculine grace without any flowery affectations, makes him one of the outstanding male dancer of his genre today. He explores various movements from other world dance forms in his works to present under his company 'Sole 2 Soul Dance Creations'.

Prashant attempts on his new solo and group dance choreographies mainly in Kathak dance form but not limiting its aesthetics and creativity just to the Kathak technique. Infact, he explores various movements from other world dance forms in his works to present under his company 'Sole to Soul Dance Creations'.

 

Prashant feels fortunate having being associated with Kumudiniben at Kadamb for his constant growth as a student, teacher, performer and choreographer. He performed at 'Erasing Borders' dance festival organised by Indo American Arts Council, New York on April 9th 2012 at the club, La Mama, New York with senior artiste Priyadarsini Govind and Sujata Mahopatra from India and great artistes from New York like Preeti Vasudevan. Prashant is regularly commissioned by international choreographers involving other dance styles like Hip Hop Belly dancing, Flamenco,   Bharat Natyam, Modern and Contemporary as a dancer & choreographer all over Europe,  North America & Asia and have got rave reviews in the New York Times, The Guardian, The   Independent,  San Francisco Chronicle,  Dancing Times,  The Star Ledger,  Voice of Dance.  A dance company by Prashant Shah focusing his work which combines both, traditional and innovative kathak technique.

Prashant Shah has performed at Fort Lauderdale,  FLorida,  Carmel, Indiana,  Dance India Asia Pacific June 2014.
