Otherwise known for her serious roles, Marathi actress Alka Kubal has taken up a comedy role in an upcoming Marathi film. The actress, who is famous for her roles as a sacrificing wife or mother in films like Maherchi Saadi, Saasuchi Maaya, among others will be seen again in the role of a mother and wife in this film, albeit in a funny avatar. Alka says, "I was very surprised when the director asked me to portray this role as people identify me with emotional roles. But I enjoyed working in a comic avatar and all of us had a lot of fun on the sets." Other crew members say that Alka is completely different from her on screen characters and is actually a very funny person.
Actress Alka Kubal who has been a part of hard hitting films like 'Amhi Ka Teesre' based on the life of eunuchs a while ago, is once again back with the film 'Sur Rahu De' directed by Ramesh More. Alka will be seen playing the role of a doctor who supports a girl affected by AIDS played by Spruha Joshi. "It is a wonderful character. This doctor supports the girl through the ordeal. The film will educate people about AIDS. I have personally worked for the AIDS awareness campaigns," says Alka Kubal.
