Gian Singh Namdhari

Gian Singh Namdhari , who is preserving the heritage of Punjab’s traditional music & continues expanding this traditional skill jori- pakhwaj  & tabla of  punjab gharana.  A jori pakhawaj is basically a pakhawaj split into two. (A pakhawaj is a north Indian classical barrel drum—precursor to the tabla  - now used mostly in Druphad music.) In terms of technique, repertoire, and sound the jori falls somewhere between a traditional pakhawaj and a tabla. Gian Singh Born 10-09-1990 in Sri Bhaini Sahib. With the kind grace and blessings of His Holiness Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji Maharaj, at the age of 10 years started getting the art of percussion ( tabla) from ustad Rajesh Malviya ji desiple of Ustad Allah Rakha khan sahib.  After some time in 2004 with satguru g's prestigeous will started pakhawaj- jori vadan (Punjab gharana) getting intense and fine training under the one & only pakhawaj samrat ustad Sukhwinder Singh Pinky ji Namdhari-desiple of Ustad Nehaal Singh ji & Pandit Kishan Maharaj ji. Few time Gian singh learnt from sri Sukhdev Singh Skhi Namdhari also.Gian singh is a first generation in family who is representing Punjab gharana pakhawaj .His father Gurdev Singh  doing  Government Job In Bank of Baroda. Pakhawaj ‘jori vadan’ is the very traditional baaj of percussion in Punjab. Gian Singh is doing his best to propagate and promote Jorhi Vadan with his continuous Riaz and Presentations in the supervision of Ustad Sukhwinder Singh Pinky Ji.

*  Got First position, Became Winner of Percussion in Harivallabh Sangeet Sammellan (Jalandhar) in 24 Dec.2010

*  Silver medal in Open National youth festival held at Udaipur, Rajasthan in jan.2011 represented Punjab state in Mrindangam category & got second position.

*  Got bronze medal in  harivallabh sangeet sammellan in Dec. 2009

*  Got bronze medal in mridangam (pakhawaj) in 17th open national youth festival held at Mangalore (Karnataka) jan.2012.

*  North zone Inter-university youth festival held at Lovely Professional University in November 2011 –represent Punjab technical university & got first    position among 5 northern state & 29 universities.

*  Got first position & Become National Winner OF Association of Indian Universities (AIU) Inter-University National Youth Festival held at Nagpur   University, Maharashtra-22jan to 26 Jan 2012.

*  Got First Runner up Trophy among 300 Professional & Business Collages in Maruti Suzuki Colors Of Youth season-1 National Grand Finale@NCUI Auditorium,    Delhi.7, march 2012. 

*  Got silver medal 2nd position in north zone inter-university youth festival @ guru nanak dev university Amritsar, 7-11 nov.2012.

*  Got First Position and became National winner of Percussion in Rashtriya Shastriya Sangeet Partiyogita, Sur-Tarang 2013 Organised By SPAC & Sanskar Bharti - in Kurukshetra, Haryana. 22 jan, 2013.

*  Gian Singh Namdhari won reality show of Maruti Suzuki Colours of Youth Season - 2 with his traditional musical skills - Got first position in all over India    with jori (pakhawaj) solo & won a Brand New Maruti Suzuki A Star Car -Worth Rate 5 lakhs in National Grand Finale @ Gurgaon from Maruti Suzuki Colors of    Youth  at Epicenter. 18 march 2013

*  Become 3rd winner in ‘Saptak’- Pandit Nanadan Mehta Shastriya Taal Vadhya Saprdha @ Ahmedabad (Gujrat), 26 feb. 2013.
