She concluded her mesmerizing recital with a Kirana gharana tarana in Raag Chandrakauns and with that proved that music indeed has no boundaries!”, wrote this music critic in his review after Rujul’s hour long rendition of Raag Chandrakauns in India in January 2010.

Journey

Rujul’s journey in music began when, as a child she used to hear her father play the Sitar and miraculously hum the notes to the utter disbelief and happiness of her parents. Seeing her quick grasping power and her ability to express a phrase perfectly and immediately, her first guru had predicted that she would one day become an established artist of Indian classical music. 

Rujul made her debut at the Saptak Annual Classical Music festival at the age of 14 when she gave a full-fledged solo concert. As a student of the school, she was given this opportunity after carefully reviewing many other students. She was selected for her unique talent and deep understanding of her art at such a young age. Her rendition got rave reviews and The Indian Express said: “We are seeing a rising star in Rujul Pathak. If the glimpses of potential in her khaayal and Tarana in Raag - Yaman offered are any indication, she should be able to make it!”
