   Biography

Suprava Mishra has written many articles about Odissi dance and role of classical dance in development of student’s life. She has written a book named ‘Bhartiya Nrutya’ was very appreciated by noted Guru and other scholar writer of art literature. She is regularly write article about culture, temple sculpture, Indian Classical dance and contemporary development of Classical Dance.

Suprava Mishra has also endeavored to create new spaces for the classical dancer of Today. With renewed fervor she has attempted to push the frontiers of classical art and to reach out to new and especially young audiences. Suprava believes that dance must be linked to life and artists must use their unique position in society to make a difference to life and living. Suprava gives lectures and demonstrations in schools and colleges and also explains Indian culture-tradition, Indian mythology, Indian classical dance, temple sculptures to create artistic sense in student.

   Career

Suprava Mishra is a renowned exponent of Odissi classical dance, one of the seven classical dance styles of India. She combines tradition with innovation, classicism with creativity and the ethic with contemporary. She is extremely innovative, original, creative and thoughtful Guru and has a special quality in shaping the subtle and psychological framework of child as well.

Suprava is the founder director of AUM ARTS DANCE ACADEMY. Students of this academy have participated in Rastriya Yuva Utsav and also in a number of TV programs of dance, drama and dance ballet regularly.

Suprava Mishra has performed professionally all over India.Some of them are:-

Performed at Darpana Academy of performing arts, Ahmedabad. on 17th april 2011 in celebrating world of Dance.

   Awards & Achievements

Suprava was honored by ‘Kalinga Nrutya Shree Samman’ by Biju Pattnaik Smruti Kala Parisada, ‘Utkal Nrutyagourab Samman’ by Utkal Sanskrutika Parishad and ‘Utkal Nrutyashree Samman’ by Utkal Sahitya Kala Parishada for her creative work in the field of Odissi dance and literature and making Odissi dance popular outside Orissa. Bhaktakabi Jayadev Sanskrutika Parishad felicitated her with ‘Jayadev Smaraki Samman’ for her unique work on Gita Govinda and her magnificent contribution to the great Indian tradition of dance, art & culture.
